THE 2026 WINTER OLYMPICS ARE OVER...How Did the USA Do?

The 2026 Winter Olympics are over, save for the Closing Ceremonies, as I crank out this posting.  I asked Google AI, how did the USA do?

Team USA had a historic performance at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina, setting a new record for the most gold medals by the U.S. at a Winter Games. The team finished with 12 gold medals and 33 total medals, highlighting significant success in men's ice hockey, freestyle skiing, and women's alpine skiing.
Key highlights from the 2026 Winter Olympics for Team USA included:

Record-Breaking Performance: The team secured the record for most gold medals by Team USA at a Winter Olympics on Feb. 21, 2026, surpassing the previous high of 10.
  • Men's Ice Hockey Gold: The U.S. men's team won their first gold since 1980 by defeating Canada 2-1 in overtime with a goal by Jack Hughes.
  • Total Medal Count: Team USA finished behind only Norway in total medals (41) with a final tally of 33.
  • Women's Success: U.S. women’s events set a record with 6 golds and 17 total medals.
  • On the other hand, we did send the most athletes (note that Norway only had 168).  They held the record for most gold medals after Beijing fours years ago.  This time they broke that record with 18 golds.  Success is said to be from their Children's Rights to Sports.  Has a population only of 5.6 million, compared to the U.S. with 343 million.

THE ENIGMATIC PHIL SPECTOR

The first presidential debate of Donald Trump and Joe Biden ended up in a near tie.  Both lost.  However, it was an unmitigated disaster for Biden, who just might be too old to win this re-election. For Trump, it was a reinforcement of what he does all the the time, lie.   There will be significant calls for the Democratic Party to work out "something" to replace Biden as their presidential candidate.  Suddenly, Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom and Michelle Obama are added to the spotlight.  But what can "legally" occur at the August Democratic Convention? The situation is different on the Republican side, as Trump is the Republican Party, and no matter if he gets 4 years at his felony sentencing on July 9, or even if the Supreme Court determines he is not immune next week or later, he will be the presidential candidate. Trump is a damned boastful liar and convicted felon, but that is the only option for Republicans.  His vice-presidential choice now become...
