WHAT IS THE WORST COUNTRY YOU EVER VISITED?

The story of the day occurred today in the White House.  First, Donald Trump met with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, followed by a second session, with Zelenskyy and six other European leaders. The public portion, with leaders praising Trump, was cordial.  Trump too was generous. Much of what happen will unfold later, for they group went into private session. But it looks like there will be a united front to seek peace with Russia, possibly with a ceasefire, but maybe not, and the European Union and U.S. in a strengthened mode to end the war. Trump had earlier in the day talked to Vladimir Putin, and said there would be a second call after the European meeting. Looks like peace might now be closer than not, and Trump could well win a Nobel Peace Prize if all goes well. So much to world affairs.  I've recent viewed two questions in  Quora .  This morning: Ryan Mack   ·   Follow   Technical Program Manager   at   Uber ATG 10mo What countries will yo...

STANFORD MAGAZINE

If you graduated from a university, chances are that you receive some kind of regular publication from your school for free.  The reason is that the administration wants to keep in touch with you, for this publication is many times also read by others, leading to future students.  Plus, donations are always welcome.   Here are ten noteworthy examples. I read an article last year,  Alumni Magazines as a Key Part of Alumni Communications. Many alumni magazines are shifting from hard copy to digital platforms. This is much cheaper and also keeps up with the times. However, a surprise is that recent graduates sometimes complain that they want to receive something like this in the mail: “Oh, we love getting this! We get so few things in print anymore that this is really special to us, and we hang on to it, and it’s on our coffee table, and we flip immediately to alumni notes to see if our friends are there and see if their photos are in print, because they live in a ...

WEIRD AL YANKOVIC

We all know President Donald Trump lies all the time.  Remember how he insisted that the U.S. obliterated Iranian nuclear facilities?  If you missed that exaggeration,  watch this.   Actually, he was partly right this time.  We did destroy one of the three sites.   As confirmed by his Administration this morning, though, the other two should be able to resume nuclear enrichment in next several months .  The Fordo site to the left and Isfahan below. It was only earlier this month that I featured Dr. Demento, and mentioned how he was mostly responsible for making Weird Al Yankovic popular in 1976.  I did not realize that Weird Al was still active, and performed this past weekend for his first time at the Madison Square Garden, which has an audience capacity of 19,500.   This one and done show sold out . Alfred Matthew Yankovic was born in Downey, California on 23October1959.  He is thus 65-years old.   Started kindergar...

TRUMP'S HUGE, UGLY LAW

Donald Trump signed his Big, Beautiful Bill on July 4.  Here are some details. Wikipedia  calls it the  One Big Beautiful Bill Act.   For purposes of this posting, I'll call it BBB. Has several hundred provisions. Permanently extends the individual tax rates Trump signed into law in 2017, which were set to expire at the end of 2025. Raises the cap on the state and local tax deductions to $40,000 for taxpayers making less than $500,00/year, but will drop to $10,000 after five years. Temporary tax deductions for tips, and overtime pay. Allows car buyers to deduct up to $10,000/year in auto loan interest for cars assembled in the U.S. and purchased between 2025 and 2028. Creates something called Trump Accounts, allowing parents to create tax-deferred accounts for the benefit of their children, which will expire in 2028.  In short, the U.S. government deposits $1000/birth of a child born between 2025 and 2028.  Then parents may contibute up to $5,000/year, with...
