MY LIFE: 2b

The big news of the day is that, according to President Donald Trump, Israel and Iran have agreed to a ceasefire. Of course, he has made similar statements in the past, on 2April2026 and 8June2026.  We'll know in a day or two if this latest development will last, leading to an opening of the Strait of Hormuz and success in peace talks. However, yesterday: When Welker mentioned what local (California) officials have said about the process, Trump said, “They’re crooked. Just like you’re crooked. Your press is crooked and Meet the Press is crooked.”   Then, President Trump stormed out of an interview with NBC's Kristen Welker yesterday , after being challenged on false claims about California's ongoing elections and the 6January2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, something he has done in the past, like the CBS 60 Minutes interview with Lesley Stahl in 2020, and several more instances in the past.  Presidents Biden, Obama, both Bushs' and Clinton never did so in anger. MY LIFE: Part 2a

But first, some news of the day. President Donald Trump seems to be losing control on all fronts.   Yesterday, the House adopted an Iran War resolution ( which therefore does not mean all that much ) to rein in Trump. Congress and the courts have forced Trump to pull back the $1.8 billion fund to compensate his allies. The Epstein files continue to lurk. The New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1 of the NBA finals, 105-95. He made national headlines by racking up an incredible scoreless-innings streak, showcasing devastating command with his changeup. [ 1 , 2 ] Jacob Misiorowski (Brewers): The "The Miz" has been utterly electric, leading all of baseball in total strikeouts and routinely lighting up the ...

ENERGY MATTERS

It's Wednesday, sci-tech day, so I'll this week draw from the American Energy Society information they send me.  No big surprise that petroleum companies are getting richer because of the Iran War. But first a post-mortem of Ken Paxton's victory over John Cornyn in the Texas Republican primary.   I thought Paxton would win by 10%.  Turns out that the margin was 28 percentage point s, mostly because of President Donald Trump's endorsement. Time magazine had a particularly convictive article, starting with:   For more than a year, Republicans beseeched President Donald Trump’s advisers in the White House with a simple ask: if he couldn’t find his way to endorsing Sen. John Cornyn , could he at least keep his mouth shut?   Further: The point is that Cornyn would have beaten current Democratic Texas state representative James Talarico, who is 37 years old.  At minimal cost. Now, the speculation is that the national Republican Party will need to...
