ALL ABOUT MAUI

But first,  Donald Trump's trial in Georgia will be televised .  When?  Perhaps in  March of 2024. So on to the Pride of American on Maui.   From   The Discovery  blog site : In addition to 137 islands, islets, and  atolls, the archipelago of Hawaii is also home to eight major islands, six of which are open to tourists. Although it’s hard to go wrong on a trip to Hawaii, each island is so unique, it’s best to do your homework ahead of time. To help you out, we’ve taken into account the cost of accommodations, variety of attractions, crowd levels, and general island vibes, to rank every Hawaiian island open to tourists . That article ranked the six islands for tourists.  You can  read the presentation , but Molokai was #6, Maui #2 and Kauai #1. I'll get to Kauai at the end of the cruise, but TheDiscoverer.com said about Maui: With its endless white-sand beaches and swaths of thick, jungle forest, Maui is easily one of the most recognizable — and popular — of the Hawaiian Island

LAHAINA: Despair to Ultimate Progress

Read the  Sunday  Star-Advertiser  about the Lahaina Apocalypse.  Mentioned are Oprah Winfrey, cadaver-sniffing dogs, Googledoc, 93 deaths, estimated damages now up to $6 billion and other wildfires still continuing on Maui.  This is now a period of transition and mourning. Today, I will look back into my past, then project a hopeful future for Lahaina.   Four and a half years ago  I had lunch at one of my favorite restaurants in the world, the Paris La Tour D'Argent ( I've also dined at their Tokyo steeple ), and from my table could view the Seine and the  Notre-Dame .  A month later, this church burned down.   At a cost exceeding a billion dollars, this cathedral might re-open at the end of the year, but could take up to 40 years to completely restore. In May of last year,  we took the Pride of America for a cruise around the Hawaiian Islands.  The first stop was Maui, and from our cabin in Kahului Harbor, took a photo of a wildfire. The ship was on the other side of the isla
