MY TWO STAGES OF LIFE

Sundays are sometimes spiritual and occasionally reflective.  So today I'll look at my 84 years of life in that manner because it took 42 years of development to allow for the latter 42 years of progress. To begin; I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and was a little more than a year old when my mother held me in her arms and pointed to the smoke emanating from Pearl Harbor on 7December1941.  Of course I don't remember any of that, and not much about World War II either. Growing up in the "fishing village" of Kakaako, which is now at the edge of the expanding Ward complex of high rises, life was easy. After graduating from McKinley High School, I went to Stanford University, departing in 1962 with a degree in chemical engineering, to work for C. Brewer as a sugar trainee at the Hutchinson Sugar Company.   I made this "sacrifice" because most of my close friends chose to join the first year of the Peace Corps.  They went off to places in Africa and the South Pacif...

THE FIRST 84 YEARS OF MY LIFE

The first half of my life was spent preparing myself for my final 42 years.  This was a mostly trying and stressful period involving a less than ideal youth, then struggles to get through school, my first few jobs and accompanying life, ending two months later on a Sunday with  Part 15E , so it was a spiritual conclusion to my final transition.  I never did count the number of actual postings, but I suspect it was around 25 parts.  The ending had to do with golf, the disappearance and re-appearance of an  8-iron cover.  That was the final clue to whether the beyond after death would be eternal gloom or Heaven. Today, I provide only one transition, but hint about a final one, for this, after all, is Sunday.  I'm 84 years old, so let me summarize what happened during the first phase, from 0-42, and follow with the years 42-84.  As this is 2024, that key transition year was 1982. I can't seem to find this photo, but as a one-year old baby, I was fat....

MY LIFE: Challenging, Joyful and Getting Better

Last week for nostalgia Tuesday I presented a storyboard for   MY LIFE .  Today, I will complete it.  Note that the title has been adjusted, and will involuntarily someday need a finalization, as I have suggested. MY LIFE:  I'm not into anything like astrology, but the following sounds about right for me. I will be 84 this year.  I was born in 1940, and I have noticed that I had a challenging first half of my life, scrambling to keep up and lucky to attain what I accomplished.  Hmmm...how do I get rid of all those  I s?  Life got better from the age of 42, and has continued to improve to today. Started great, actually, for here is one calculation that the odds of me being born was 1 in 400,000,000,000,000, or 4 times 10 to the 14th power. But that was from Instagram, not a credible source.   Science Alert  uses that beginning analysis and goes on to say that the real odds of anyone being born is  1 in 10 to the 2,685,000th powe...
