FANTASY BASEBALL 2024

For those not into fantasy baseball, come back tomorrow.  That is, unless you have interest in the marital status of Shohei Ohtani.  If so, read on. If I can be condemned for wasting any time, it is in fantasy baseball.  I was once into more, including football, basketball and golf.  I pretty much now only bother with major league baseball.  Why? During summer months, there is no University of Hawaii sports.  Baseball begins at the end of March and continues into October. One problem is that I travel in March and April, as I again will this year.  It's difficult to keep up with U.S. sports when I'm around the world. There are several competitions which cost money.  I even flew to Las Vegas one year to participate in drafting players.  Now I only stick to ESPN for MLB and NFL, as they're free.   This year I will again draft three fantasy baseball teams. As I indicated at the top, one problem with this free ESPN baseball competition is that it wastes a lot time.  I need to ad

LATE-BREAKING NEWS and NETFLIX

Saturday is usually my entertainment day, but there is a wide range of newsworthy stories, beginning with Donald Trump, who will scorch Nikki Haley today in the Republican primary, and win by at least a 25-points.  The   latest poll   I saw had him at 61.6% to Haley's 34%.  But he was at 66% a few days ago, so there has been a decline.   Embarrassing, for South Carolina is where she was governor from 2011 to 2017.   Further,  on the national level, he is leading Haley 77% to 16% .  She will then get destroyed in the upcoming Michigan (very complicated process next week, where Trump leads 80% to 18%) and Super Tuesday (March 5) primaries. But she is not running to beat Trump in the primaries, nor at their national convention in mid-July.   She is being funded by no-Trumpers just in case Trump is disqualified by the Supreme Court, or gets convicted of a serious crime.   Chances are high, though, that the Supreme Court will allow him to run.  Some ruling will be announced soon.   The

HAVE A GREAT NETFLIX WEEKEND

But first, I was wrong about how much Judge Arthur Engoron penalized Donald Trump.  Not $364 million, but  $453.5 million .  The judge added interest, which will continue to accrue at 9%/year as long as Trump appeals, which could well be years.  So as long as he doesn't settle and pay, Trump will continue to lose an additional $50 million or so per year.  Add the $88.3 million to E. Jean Carroll, and the personal loss so far for Trump is $542 million, plus an annual interest of nearly $55 million/year if he keeps appealing.  How much is Trump worth?   According to both  Forbes  and  Bloomberg , around $2.4 billion . About the Fani Willis disqualification hearings, Judge Scott McAfee will rule in one or two weeks.  Current MSNBC and CNN sentiment is that Judge McAfee will allow Willis to continue tormenting Donald Trump and his cohorts, with continued trials in May. Okay, the weekend has begun, and, remember that Monday is a national holiday, President's Day.  So there is some b
