THE NEXT FEW DAYS WILL BE MOST INTERESTING

Tomorrow begins Ramadan.  For those who don't know what is Ramadan, I will on Sunday provide some history.  As such, there was hope for peace in the Gaza Strip by the end of today.  Apparently,   not going to happen , for both the Hamas and Israel are not backing off on must requirements.  While both have their points, I think the biggest source of irritation is PM Netanyahu, who wants to totally obliterate any future terrorism against Israel.  Even a long cease fire will threaten his leadership. What about aid to Ukraine?  Well, still no progress in the House.  However,  looks like something will be worked out by March 22 , when the Republicans again play brinksmanship about closing down the Federal government. Tonight is when you need to spring forward, that is, this is Spring, so you must set your clock forward an hour.  Which means you will have one less hour of sleep.  Why we continue to do this back and forth every year remains confounding.  Daylight saving time has been arou

WHAT A WEEK

What a week: If you are in the stock market, for Wall Street closed the latest winning week, pushing the S&P to 5,137 and Nasdaq to 16,275,  both all time highs .  The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended at 39,087, not quite up to the record of last week. Your name is  Donald John Trump .  Did you know that he is a John?  Also, that he was the #4 child, with two sisters and two brothers. The Supreme Court chose to accept his case about immunity, raising questions about when they will actually announce anything.  Some have speculated that Jack Smith might never get to prosecute him even if SCOTUS rules that he will be be immune to conviction.  I still think they will act on this measure before July, and that his failed 6January2021 coup attempt trial can still occur this summer, say in September.  Perfect timing, actually. This leaves the Georgia case awaiting the decision by Judge Scott McAfee's decision to allow attorney general Fani Willis to try these cases or not.  Should an

PAST AND FUTURE GLOBAL JOURNEYS

First, some news summaries: Looks like the U.S. Congress, mostly the fault of the House, will not by Friday provide stopgap funding for some of our Federal agencies, thus partially shutting down certain departments. Big deal?  Not particularly, as this  has happened 10 times since 1981 . Also, the offices affected are not so crucial.  The important ones need funding by March 8.  But even then, "essential" employees, including the president and the Congress, will continue to work and be paid under any circumstance. The longest shutdown was during Trump's reign, when functions stopped for more than a month. Chances are that something will happen next week to again, temporarily, re-open our government. By the time you read this,  moon lander Odysseus might not be working,  a few days earlier than planned.   Not a great mission, for the lander tipped over on landing, preventing full use of the solar panels. Watch a video  of what happened. Sent a few great photos. About that
