ON THE MATTER OF KNOWN AND UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS

An Unidentified Flying Object ( UFO ) is exactly that, an object not yet identified.  The object can range from something we'll never identify to weather balloons to alien flying saucers to whatever.  I had a three part series in August of 2021.  Feel free to glance at them, beginning with   the first one .  Then   Part 2   dealt with that confusing "official" government report that maybe went too far in giving credence to the subject, ending with   Part 3   on best films and documentaries. To begin,  two-thirds of Americans believe in extraterrestrial intelligence life . Of interest here is that around half of our population senses that some of those UFOs, like flying saucers, are linked to some intelligent life in our universe.  Here is a breakdown of who believes. I searched for a while and could not find any poll of scientists.  I do know that when I worked on NASA's search for extraterrestrial intelligence program at the Ames Research Center, zero percent believe

WHY ARE SO MANY NOT TAKING THE COVID-19 VACCINE?

The New York Times this morning reported: Donald Trump insulted Senator Mitch McConnell as a “dumb son of a bitch”   at a retreat for Republican donors . The Times columnists Gail Collins and Bret Stephens   discuss sex scandals and Congressman Gaetz . Amazon defeated unionism in Alabama by paying all its employees at least $15/hour, more than double the current Federal minimum wage of $7.25.  However, $15/hour translates to $31,000/year, LESS than half of the U.S. median family income.   “The victory leaves Amazon free to handle employees on its own terms,”   The Times’s Karen Weise and Michael Corkery write . Hideki Maruyama became the first Japanese to win a major golf tournament, edging out Will Zalatoris, an interesting newcomer who shows promise to win a tournament this year, and Xander Schauffele, who could well prevail in another major this year.  He had a roller coaster round, with a triple bogey on the 16th hole.   Maruyama is rather reticent in his public statements, and al

A NEW SMART TOY: The Amazon Fire TV Stick

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday.  Should you go to church?  Tomorrow I will look into the matter of how the Supreme Court has caused some serious COVID-19 clusters.  Hawaii itself has had two incidents during the past few weeks.  The Major League Baseball season started on Thursday, and only one series ( Baltimore-Boston ) was cancelled because of COVID-19.  In my posting that day , I mentioned that in the NCCA Women's Basketball Final Four oddsmakers gave Arizona a 4.76% chance of winning the championship.  Well, they beat top-rated Connecticut, and now play Stanford, who got lucky at the end to edge South Carolina, tomorrow at 6PM EDT ( noon Hawaii time ) on ESPN from the Alamodome, San Antonio.  This has to the first ever PAC-12 combination playing each other in the Big Dance final.  Today, Houston vs Baylor and Gonzaga vs UCLA, who were given a 3.85% chance of winning it all.  The men's finals will be played on Monday Night at 9PM EDT ( 3PM Hawaii ) on CBS from Lucas Oil Stadium

MY ENHANCED LIFE AT 15 CRAIGSIDE WITH ALEXA

I grew up in my family, went to college and always had roommates, graduated and spent six months in Naalehu, mostly alone, then got married, until my wife passed away 47 years later.  I then lived a single life for five years, moving next door into 15 Craigside six years ago, joining 200 others in our seniors' community.  That pretty much sums up my 80 years.  I enjoyed the solitude, but feel comfortable around people. I'm now here at 15 Craigside for the rest of my life because they promised to take care of me forever, even if I run out of money.  Of course, the catch is that they only let you in if you can afford it, and make sure you never deplete your resources. Life here has been good...no, make that great.  We just got notified that our Moderna vaccination will come soon.  It is amazing that we have not had even one COVID-19 case among the 15 C residents.  In the USA, with less than 1% ( 0.8% ) of the national population,  45% of all pandemic deaths have occurred in nurs
