HAWAII: The Best and Most Dangerous State in the USA?

Read the local  Star-Advertiser  for the Maui Apocalypse details. Deaths up to 80 and are expected to yet increase. How you can assist.   The safest would be: The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency: Donations and volunteer support information at ready.hawaii.gov or 808-733-4300. or Maui County:   Donate or volunteer by calling 808-270-7285 or The Maui Strong Fund  at 808 566-5560 . Jeff Bezos and fiancee Lauren Sanchez donated $100 million.  Of course, he is worth $163 billion.  Thus, looking at this on a percentage of richness basis, a millionaire should give around $600, and, if you are worth $100,000, then your share should be $60.  Let's see now, Hawaii-born Steve Case said he would contribute $1 million.  That's about right, for he is worth $1.5 billion.  Jeff and Lauren own a  $78 million home  at La Perouse Bay on Maui. Lahaina will return.  There will be a significant boost to the island economy over the next decade, as $10 billion will be spent to restore the place.  T

WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE PREDICTED ATLANTIC HURRICANES?

The  National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration  (NOAA) has predicted the following hurricane activity levels across the Atlantic, Eastern Pacific, and Central Pacific basins for 2022: Atlantic: Runs from June 1 to November 30, but not necessarily. Above-Normal Season Likely:  14-21 named storms and 3-6 major (Category 3-5) hurricanes, the 7th consecutive above-average hurricane season.   Only a 10% chance of a below-normal season. Why? Warmer-than-average sea surface temperatures  La Nina ( Absence of El Nino means that the lack of wind shear force to break down hurricanes ) Weaker tropical Atlantic trade winds Enhanced West African monsoons The two prominent forecasters are NOAA and Colorado State.  Past history shows that NOAA has a 92% accuracy for predicting the number of named storms, 72% for CSU, while NOAA has an 82% accuracy of predicting the number of major hurricanes, 62% for CST. Eastern Pacific: Below-Normal Season Likely Central Pacific: Below-Normal Season Likely

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT HURRICANES

Hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones are the same storm .  However: In the Northern Hemisphere they spin ( looking from above ) in the counterclockwise direction. In the Southern Hemisphere they spin in the clockwise direction. Something called the Coriolis Force created by the rotation of Planet Earth triggers the storm. They are called: Hurricane if initially formed in the Atlantic or Eastern Pacific Oceans. Typhoon if formed in the Western North Pacific. Cyclone if in the South Pacific and Indian Oceans. The ocean waters need to be at least 80 F ( 27 C ) from surface to 150 feet deep for these cyclonic storms to form.  Thus, the ocean is too cold during winter months. Hurricanes cannot exist about 300 miles above and below the equator.  Thus, no storm of this nature has ever crossed the Equator. At 39 MPH it is called a tropical storm and given a name. Reaching a sustained 74 MPH the classification is changed to hurricane, typhoon or cyclone. They are classified according the the Saffi
