YES, MORE SPORTS

Two important news items before sports.  First,  HOW THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION SEALED THE GAZA CEASEFIRE DEAL : Credit Steve Witkoff, another real estate developer, now a special envoy, and Jared Kushner, son-in-law.  They've handled the bulk of the negotiations. You can read the details, but this article did not underscore the main reason why there is now peace in the Gaza Strip, with all the live hostages to be returned in 24 hours.  Very simply, President Donald Trump early this month warned   all hell, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas , if they don't agree to his Gaza Peace Plan by the deadline. While few have any pretensions that what now happening means there will be peace in the Middle East forever, what Trump has done is create a platform for Israel to work in tenuous unity with key countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey and Qatar, to marshal a kind of truce for now.  A lot more work left. Nobel Peace medal from Trum...

WEEKEND SPORTS

Today, all about sports.   I have a lot of TV-watching planned for this weekend, and my teams are likely to mostly lose.   Hawaii football at Air Force:  no chance here.  The elevation is 6,621 feet, second most to Wyoming's field.  Hawaii always loses at Wyoming too. Hawaii women's volleyball:  the team has injuries and seems to be wallowing.  Should lose tonight against Cal-Davis. Marcus Mariota will start for the Washington Commanders against the Atlantic Falcons because the starting QB is injured.  Won't be shown in Hawaii. The Miami Dolphins host the New York Jets on Monday night football, so this game will be televised in Hawaii.  They are 0-3, and Tua Tagovailoa is having a bad season. Team USA is being soundly beaten by the Europeans in the Ryder Cup.  Continues today and ends tomorrow.   One lowlight was the appearance of President Donald Trump yesterday .  With him was granddaughter Kai Madison Trump. ...

ENJOY LIFE: Watch Sports on TV

A grand weekend of sports watching is here.  While this has little meaning for many, sports on TV, with some actual golfing on the side, are important parts of my life, with eating, sleeping and other viewing pleasure from Netflix/Prime and the like.  And in my case, I will only live this once. One sport possibly only important in Hawaii, is volleyball.  The NCAA Women's season begins tonight with #3 Pittsburg vs #1 Nebraska and #16 Florida vs #6 Stanford, both available on FOX.  Hawaii has a new team, is not in the top 20, and plays Marquette next Friday, August 29. Week Zero of NCAA football is this weekend. The first game of the season is always exciting because you are undefeated and could possibly go on to a perfect season.  Hawaii almost did that in 2007, and went on to play Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on 1January2008. Looking ahead, Saturday, November 1, looks good, with Alabama vs LSU, Penn State vs Ohio State, Georgia vs Florida, Miami vs SMU, South ...
