Showing posts with the label abortion

NETFLIX and The Menendez Brothers

Worried about our economy?   The Dow Jones Industrial Average posted yet another record day yesterday, rising 341 points to 42,353 .  Percentage wise, that was a jump of 0.81%.  The S&P 500 went up 0.9%, while the Nasdaq Composite increased 1.22%. U.S. job gains increased in September by the most in six months, while unemployment fell to 4.1%.  Much of this was the Fed last month leading with a 50 basis point rate cut.  The end of the dockworker strike helped.  Economic activity in this fourth quarter will likely remain strong.  This is a surprise, and wonderful for Democrats.  One more diversion, abortion is so hurting Republicans, that many are softening their stance.  Incredible, but they are being led by Millenia Trump.  To be released on October 8, her memoir,  Melania , will defend individual freedom of women to do what they wish with their bodies.  She said there is no room for compromise.  This is the pola...

STRANDED ASTRONAUTS AND DONALD TRUMP

For the past couple of days I've been keeping you up to date on our two stranded NASA astronauts on the International Space Station.    Today, NASA shared one more scary bit of news : Their assessment is that if Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore were to soon return on the semi-crippled Starliner spacecraft, the odds of not making it back alive would only be 1 in 270. Sure, if a horse had those same odds, it would almost never win. However, two human lives are worth a lot more than a losing horse. Consider this: According to a 2017   Harvard University   study, the odds that your plane will crash are one in 1.2 million, and the odds of dying from a crash are one in 11 million. Your chances of dying in a car accident, meanwhile, are one in 5,000 . In other words, you would have a 40,740 times better chance on a successful commercial flight than what is facing those astronauts. Another study found that more than 95% of aircraft occupants survived the crash. Two other ways...

THE NEARLY PERFECT POLITICAL STORM

Politics later.  I first start with something startling.   Hawaii is the best place in the world to watch the total eclipse of the Moon tonight . Starts at 10:02PM Hawaii time, turns blood red at 12:16PM, stays this dark reddish-copper color for 85 minutes, and ends at 3:46AM.  Duration:  5 hours, 42 minutes. And you can watch without wearing any safety glasses, which are required for solar eclipses. You would think that New York, which is now 5 hours ahead of Hawaii, would end at 8:36 AM when the sun would have been up for 2 hours.  But eclipses don't work that way.  For New York: Begins at 3:02 AM. Peaks at 5:59AM. Ends at 6:41AM, with the sun rising just before at 6:35AM Duration:  3 hours, 39 minutes. Thus, Hawaiians will see the whole lunar eclipse longer than anyone else. The next total eclipse will occur on 14March2025. No one won the  Powerball $1.6 billion  Saturday night. You needed to have white balls 28,45,53,56 and 69, plus ...
