HURRICANE vs BUD: Preparing for the Super Bowl

Nothing to do with a hurricane hitting New Orleans.  Tomorrow is Super Bowl LIX or 59.  This logo was created by "Queen" Tahj Williams ( below ) of the Mardi Gras Indians.  They are African American carnival revelers in New Orleans.  Their origin goes back to around 1730 when they danced during the Mardi Gras.  This is the first time that the NFL has collaborated with a local artist on the design of a Super Bowl Emblem.  Note the fleur-de-lis, resemblance to ironwork balconies and color combo, evocative of New Orleans and the Mardi Gras. Another first is that the Super Bowl game will be streamed for free via Tubi, owned by Fox. The Philadelphia Eagles will be the home team, and has chosen to wear their midnight green home jerseys with white pants.  The Kansas City Chiefs will wear white with red pants.  These are the same uniforms worn when they met in SB57, won by the Chiefs.  Kansas City won again last year, and could become the first to ev...

THE HARRIS-WALZ DEMOCRATIC TICKET

By now you must know that Kamala Harris selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.  I said in  my posting yesterday  that he, Josh Shapiro and Mark Kelly were the favorites.  However: Walz is 60 years old, not from a battleground state and is not a particularly effective orator.  He simply has not done much. I also said that Shapiro and Kelly have serious flaws, so, the Walz pick makes a lot of sense. He is an ideal match. Caucasian male. Is a hunter who owns guns, but is a strong proponent of control. Represents the common man. Is not Ivy League...like JD Vance.  Chadron State College in Nebraska and Minnesota State University vs Yale. Is not flawed...like JD Vance. Is not elitest...like JD Vance. Is calm and reassuring...unlike JD Vance. Common man? Enlisted in the Army National Guard when he turned 17.  Then the National Guard in 1981, in heavy artillery.  Nebraska Citizen-Soldier of the year in 1989.  Gained the rank of com...

First, a refresher on what you should absolutely avoid if you have not been vaccinated and boosted.  But for those who got all those recommend dosages, even if you catch COVID-19, the odds are very, very high that your symptoms will only fall between a weak flu and a cold.   Or, you could be one of the 40% or so who will show no symptoms.   As of late last year, it looked like the  asymptomatic rate of this virus was 40.5% .   This rate for the seasonal flu is said to be around  33% . One study showed the asymptomatic rate of the common cold was  60% You need to be careful with venereal diseases, for the asymptomatic rate is around  66% . So to continue,  here are where you are most likely to become a statistic of this pandemic : Crowded and poorly ventilated sport or entertainment theater: If no one is wearing a mask and are talking = 54%. Everyone is wearing a mask and there is some talking = 24% If everyone is wearing a mask...
