THE PARALLEL LIVES OF ELVIS PRESLEY AND JOHNNY CASH

I never previously thought that Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash had much in common about their lives.  Just watched on Amazon Prime the 2006  Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash:  The Road Show , featuring 30 performances of their early careers.  There are definite parallels. EP born in Tupelo, Mississippi, 1935 and lived for 42 years.  JC, Kingsland, Arkansas, 1932, 71 years.  Well, not so similar, but this comes later. Elvis Presley. Twin brother was still-born. Family moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948. Did not read music. Began singing for Sam Phillips of Sun Records in 1953. Made his only appearance in the Grand Ole Opry in 1954. Signed up with Colonel ( who was never a military officer ) Tom Parker in 1955.  Elvis was 20. I don't think I have ever owned a Rubik's Cube.  I have also never solved the game.  However, I can order one from Amazon.com for $5.19. A larger one costs $20. Has 26 cubes with 6 colors--white, yellow, red, orange, green and blue--plus 519 quintillion permutations. Began to be sold in 1980, and at one stage in 1981, three of the 10 best-selling books was on how to solve this cube. The  New York Times  in 1982 reported that the craze had died. But Rubik's patent expired in 2000, and the craze returned in the early 2000s When it sold 350 million, it became the best-selling toy in the world , according to some sources. Now, 500 million sold. However,  this article  says that the cube ranks #14, with Barbie ( 3 billion sold ) at #...

A STORM FORETOLD

First, a little equal time for those running against Donald Trump.   Yesterday, Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis on  CNN town hall  events actually, and finally, began to criticize Donald Trump.  But the only remaining primary question is:  Can Haley beat DeSantis in Iowa, and can DeSantis beat Haley in New Hampshire. Today, President Joe Biden played his democracy card on a speech at Valley Forge . 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia. 149 miles northeast of DC. Valley Forge was virtually insignificant in the Revolutionary War, though the park there commemorates the perseverance of George Washington and his forces. And, by the way, that painting of  Washington Crossing the Delaware  on Christmas night in 1776 by German artist Emanuel Leutze is all wrong. He never stood, it was too dangerous. He looked old in the painting, but was only 44. There was no light, the attack was in the middle of the night. The crew was all white. The flag was not used until ...
