THE ULTIMATE OR FINAL SOLUTION FOR DONALD TRUMP

What is an ultimate solution? From the  Collins Dictionary . A   solution   to   a   problem   or   difficult   situation is a way of   dealing   with it so that the   difficulty   is removed.     Webster  links the final solution to the Nazi program for the extermination of all Jews in Europe. What was the ultimate/final solution for Adolf Hitler?  If you feel he is a danger, then you find a way to eliminate him.  Can you believe historians have uncovered  42 ultimate solution plots ? The first was in 1932 when poison was used in the Hotel Kaiserhof in Berlin.  He happened to be a vegetarian, so was not much affected. You can read about the  other 40 , but the final attempt was led by Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg on 20July1944. You might have seen the 2008 film  Valkyrie , with Tom Cruise as Stauffenberg.  They looked alike. All attempts failed.  Stauffenberg was executed on 21July1944. Hitler committed suicide on 30April1945.  He was only 56 years old. My posting yesterday had to d

A RATHER EXCITING COMING WEEK

At one time the posting today was named,   What is Death?   Then I decided to use these contents next week.  But that title still applies, for our government was supposed to be shut down, or die, this weekend.    However, Speaker Kevin McCarthy took the bipartisan pathway and all is well for the Federal government, at least until another death threat deadline comes in mid-November.   McCarthy will, of course, undergo another kind of death, lost of his speakership, to be advanced by recalcitrant Republicans this week.  Matt Gaetz will be at the head of that line.  Will they succeed?  Maybe Democrats will save McCarthy.  Such is the nature of politics in the House of Representatives today. So on to what else will be happening in the USA this coming week: The New York lawsuit accusing the Trump Organization of inflating property values will come to trial tomorrow.   All reports indicate that  The Donald himself will show up in person  for at least the first week of this civil fraud trial,

THE FABULOUS DORSEY BROTHERS

I've had numerous articles featuring the Big Band Era.  To the right Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, with Janet Blair.    In 2020 I posted: My favorite song #56 enters the Big Bang era, and today, I feature Jimmy Dorsey: I'll Be Seeing You All the Things You are I'm Getting Sentimental Over You In the beginning there were the Dorsey brothers, Jimmy (left), elder, and Tommy.  In their early group was Rudy Vallee.  They joined Paul Whiteman in 1927 and in 1929 had their first hit.  In 1934 they signed with Decca, and a member of their band was Glenn Miller, who received a loan from Tommy to form his own band.  The brothers had a falling out, so in 1935 Tommy, who played the trombone, formed his own orchestra.  Frank Sinatra became a singer with him, then quit. Boogie Woogie  came in 1939.  Frank Sinatra returned from the Harry James band in 1940 and they made 80 records.  In 1940  I'll be Seeing You ,  written by Sammy Fain and Irving Kahal made it to #4, but the  Bing Crosby sol

#53: Best Christmas Song, Ever

MERRY CHRISTMAS!  A nice way to start the day is Feliz Navidad with Jose and his grandson: As I neared #1 on my favorite songs list, I wondered why I had a couple of days to spare before the year ended.   Turns out I skipped #53.  How that happened is I just goofed.  But this gives me a slot for what I should have included anyway.  The Christmas season is when we've had the most songs that keep returning.  They never quite go away. If you Google the Top 10 Pop Christmas Songs of All Time, you might not even recognize one.  Again, try the 50 Greatest Christmas Songs , and at least some are more conventional.  In both ratings, #1 is  All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey.  She also wrote it and published this song more than a quarter century ago.   Wikipedia lists it as the best-selling Christmas single with 3.2 million digital downloads.  So I had to listen to it.  Amazingly, never heard it before. I searched further, and found these  more recent Christmas songs .  G
