Yesterday, Rubik's Cube being 50 years old inspired me to start today with the  Caesar Salad  being a century old.  More specifically, July 4 was not only Independence Day, but also the birthday of this dish. Invented in Tijuana. But this is an Italian salad, invented by Caesar Cardini.  Tijuana then was a bustling international city with bullfights, mobsters, movie stars and the like. The music being blared might have been Al Jolson's  California Here I Come . That day, the restaurant was overwhelmed by holiday travelers, so he and his brother just tossed some olive oil, egg and parmesan over Romaine lettuce.  Perhaps an anchovy. The Caesar demands innovation, and people who later prepared it also added some Worcestershire, or Tabasco or lemon juice, and perhaps bacon, kimchi and anything an adventurous cook might choose. Thus, the endurance of the Caesar Salad. Artificial Intelligence, or AI, invokes fear, utility, the future and a wide variety of emotion...

Have you noticed that films these days don't say  The End  at the the end?  This  turnover happened  in the 1970's.  Now, there is a rolling credit list for grips, gaffers, etc.  One annoyance I have, though, is that all those production companies want to feature themselves at the beginning, taking up so much time.  Also, have you noticed how many producers there are on each movie? Then there is the end to your life.  For many, this termination is just the beginning of a better existence in Heaven, or the equivalent.  And, boy, do Muslim male martyrs have a surprise coming:   not 72 virgins, but 72 sweet white raisins .  Not to say that other religions also will not be disappointed.  What you are promised has not actually been verified. For me, the end will be nothingness or total blackness or utter gloom.  Now and then I convince myself that it will be eternal peace.  The plus side going for people of faith...

Ron DeSantis has dropped out of the Republican primary race, and endorsed The Donald.  Note the GOD OVER GOVERNMENT sign.  That is a surprise.  I thought both he and Nikki Haley were planning to hang in to the end, hoping Donald Trump would be judged so guilty that he couldn't continue his campaign.  Trump should win the New Hampshire vote over Haley on Tuesday, and crush her in South Carolina on February 24.  Thus, as she was governor of that state, look for her to drop out before or soon after that date. In case you were wondering what this fuss was about Biden not being on the New Hampshire primary ballot,  Democrats bypassed Iowa and New Hampshire, and will count South Carolina as the first primary state , even though no one of any substance is running against him.  New Hampshire, however, got pissed off about being sidestepped--although they say they are required by law to do this--so went on with the ballots anyway, showing his absence.  Thu...
