IT WAS SHO TIME LAST NIGHT

Shohei Ohtani just played the greatest game in baseball history.  To quote MSNBC: This is Beethoven at a piano. This is Shakespeare with a quill. This is Michael Jordan in the Finals. This is Tiger Woods in Sunday red.   This is too good to be true with no reason to doubt it. This is the beginning of every baseball conversation and the end of the debate: Shohei Ohtani is the best baseball player who has ever played the game, the most talented hitter and pitcher of an era in which data and nutrition have made an everyman’s sport a game for superhumans. And Friday night, when he helped his Los Angeles Dodgers win the pennant with a 5-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, was his Mona Lisa. How was this for a beginning?  In the top of the first inning, he struck out the side, then led off the bottom with a home run. When he hit his second homer, where the ball traveled 469 feet in the fourth inning, he had more hits ...

THE COMING OF 2025

The end and beginning of the year are a transition celebrated worldwide.    The first nation to celebrate New Year 2025  was Kiribati, at 5AM ET.  This is because the International Date Line where the day begins is in the Pacific Ocean. At 6AM ET came New Zealand. Then at 8AM ET, Sydney, Australia.  More than million watched, live. 10AM, Tokyo, Japan. 10AM ET, Seoul, South Korea. 11AM ET, Hong Kong. 11AM ET, Beijing, China. 11AM New York, Taipei, Taiwan, their tallest building, Taiwan 101. Midnight New York, Bangkok, Thailand. 3AM New York, Dubai, UAE, Burj Khalifa, tallest building in the world. What are the final places to see the new year? Baker Island and Howland Island.  However, no one lives there. 6AM ET, American Samoa hits midnight. 5AM ET, Hawaii. 4AM ET, French Polynesia and Alaska. 3AM ET, the Pacific Coast of U.S. and Canada. Maybe the most seen new year celebration occurs at Times Square in New York City.   The following list is from...

DONALD TRUMP: Upcoming Wins and Losses

Donald Trump will win some and lose some.  He's had some important wins so far, most having do with the Republican presidential primaries, ownership of the Republican Party and affect on Congress.  My speculation of what will happen into the future.  First, I predict that he will become the Republican presidential candidate.  A good win for him.  If, against current odds, he selects Nikki Haley as his vice-presidential running mate, another big win for him. Let me start with the Supreme Court, and all the following are my guesses. They will allow him to run for president, a win for Trump. They will say, by not hearing the appeal court decision, or taking time to make a Supreme Court decision, that Trump is not immune from prosecution.  A huge loss for Trump. But when will all that clarify?  Almost surely by this summer, and probably even very soon. This will allow the DC trial involving Special Prosecutor Jack Smith / Judge Tanya Chutkan to proceed som...
