FUKUSHIMA: A NUCLEAR NIGHTMARE

I just watched on HBO Max,   Fukushima:  A Nuclear Nightmare,   a 2026 British-American documentary directed by James Jones and Megumi Inman, exploring the 11March2011 Fukushima nuclear accident.  A gripping film.  Too new to be rated by   RottenTomatoes.   Read my   Huffington Post   article on   The Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami:  The Aftermath . The production features Ikuo Izawa, a Tokyo Electric Power Company supervisor at the nuclear site, who deserves an Oscar for his performance.  He was there from Day 1 as one of the  Fukushima 50  and worked at the site until help came.  From  Wikipedia : There were 800 workers at the site when the tsunami struck on 11March2011. Go to Karaoke Kan Shibuya to sing  More Than This ,  as Bill Murray did in  Lost in Translation . Have a meal at  Enter the Void , a robot restaurant in Kabukicho.  Flashing lights, scantily clad women and robot servers.  Hotels can get you a two-for-one deal.  Four shows/day.  Bad food, good entertainment.  Can bring children.  Oh, this was rebranded Samurai Restaurant, with same stuff. Visit Akihabara, an e...

WE ARE IN TOKYO

Our flight to Tokyo on Hawaiian Airlines featured the ususal take-off view of Waikiki and Diamond Head. The food and service were great.  Started with prosecco, then went on to Johnny Walker Black, sake and Kirin Beer with a Japanese meal.  Followed by cheesecake, Bailey's and cognac. Saw three films.   Guy Richie's The Covenant , which got 83/98 ratings from  Rotten Tomatoes,  really good move, and  Someone You Loved,  a Korean romance film with a different kind of twist at the end.  Unexpected. The last one was  Contact , but the iPad had to be turned off when the plane approached Haneda Airport, so I missed the last few minutes. However, I turned to Google, and  found this article, which tries to explain what happened .,  Left more questions about the reality, except that Jody Foster playing the role of a Search for Extraterrestial Intelligence (SETI) scientist, possibly went through a  wormhole  and returned back ...
