PEPPER: See You In Heaven

Time   magazine had three articles on Donald Trump's blow-out win in Iowa last night: Trump Dominates in Iowa . How Trump Took Control of the GOP Primary. In Iowa, Ron DeSantis Takes His Loss as a Win . Also,  Vivek Ramaswamy and Asa Hutchison dropped out , leaving three Republican candidates. You might wonder why DeSantis and Haley are continuing to run. They mostly harbor hopes that Trump will be prevented from running for president this year.  The Supreme Court could still make their dreams come true.  Clearly, court cases won't be any factor.  And Trump is in a New York court today. Odds are fair that Haley could beat Trump in New Hampshire, with DiSantis a distant third. However, the Donald will embarrass Nikki in her home state of South Carolina, and the end result will be similar to Iowa, with DeSantis this time in third place.  That will occur on February 27. So if Trump remains eligible to run, he will be officially nominated in mid-July. One reason will be states like

BILLIONAIRE LIFESTYLES

One more craziness about the frozen Iowa caucus today.   Republican candidates have spent $123 million in advertising so far.   With such low temperatures throughout the state tonight, it would not be surprising if only 123,000 show up to vote.  $1,000/vote????  In the  2020 presidential election, $14.4 billion  was spent to gain 155.4 million votes.  That calculates to around $10/vote.  Does this make any sense?  Incidentally, the first official primary election state for Democrats is South Carolina, although only Joe Biden will get votes.  Bet you did not know that  President Grover Cleveland is on the newest $1000 bill , which has been discontinued.  The  appraised value if you have one is $5000. We're better off in the USA than anywhere else.  I say this on the basis of the following from  Wikipedia  ranking household expenditure per capita/year: #1      United States          $43,931 #2      Hong Kong             $37,893 #3      Luxembourg           $33,647 #4      Bermuda

KILAUEA VOLCANO ERUPTS AND 9/11

The past ten days or so have mostly focused on our Pride of America cruise throughout the Hawaiian Islands.  So let me continue with one more travel item:   Kilauea Volcano began erupting last night , which was already September 11 for much of the USA, so come to the Big Island of Hawaii.  You can land in Hilo or Kona and drive to this natural attraction, although it's closer from Hilo.  But you ask, how long will this lava activity continue?  Well,it was sort of doing something only 22 days ago.  But it's hard to believe that there has been some continuing activity for the past 40 years or so. I had recently returned from working in the U.S. Senate for three years.  As we normally did in those days, we spent the New Year period with her family in Hilo.  So on January 3, 1983, I was golfing at the Volcano Golf Course.  The ground shook and there was a strange rumbling sound.  Soon thereafter, only a few thousand yards away, we saw a volcanic fountain.  This was the beginning of
