VICE PRESIDENTIAL RUNNING MATES AND THIRD PARTY CANDIDATES

Well,   Judge Scott McAfee ruled today   that Fani Willis can continue her role in the trials against Donald Trump and his cronies, but boyfriend Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor on this case, must go.   Boy, it would be nice if Willis can now get former Georgia Governor,   Roy Barnes , to serve in this role.  He was the person first asked to do this.  He looks old, but now in his mid-70's, remains convincing. In any event, one more case against Donald Trump now sure to happen before the November 5 election.  The status? The New York Hush Money trial will be pushed back at least until May. The Florida documents trial will also be somewhat delayed. The DC January 6 trial for Trump's failed coup attempt is awaiting a Supreme Court decision.  Hearings later next month with a decision probably before the Republican Nation Convention in July.  I suspect this trial will begin in September when the Supreme Court says Trump is not immune. The Georgia RICO trials will now proceed, ag

WE ARE THE WORLD

Watched the  Greatest Night in Pop  this weekend.  Got 98/88 ratings from  Rotten Tomatoes .  Never heard of it?  Released as a documentary to limited audiences on 31January2024, and now streaming on Netflix. This is the largely untold story of the making of  We Are The World --the most magnanimous song of all-time for charity, earning more than the equivalent of $200 million today--when 46 pop music stars showed up late at night on 28January1985 and all through the morning until the sun rose put worked together an epic recording to make a difference for Humanity. PAST AND FUTURE GLOBAL JOURNEYS

First, some news summaries: Looks like the U.S. Congress, mostly the fault of the House, will not by Friday provide stopgap funding for some of our Federal agencies, thus partially shutting down certain departments. Big deal?  Not particularly, as this  has happened 10 times since 1981 . Also, the offices affected are not so crucial.  The important ones need funding by March 8.  But even then, "essential" employees, including the president and the Congress, will continue to work and be paid under any circumstance. The longest shutdown was during Trump's reign, when functions stopped for more than a month. Chances are that something will happen next week to again, temporarily, re-open our government. By the time you read this,  moon lander Odysseus might not be working,  a few days earlier than planned.   Not a great mission, for the lander tipped over on landing, preventing full use of the solar panels. Watch a video  of what happened. Sent a few great photos. About that

HAVE A GREAT NETFLIX WEEKEND

But first, I was wrong about how much Judge Arthur Engoron penalized Donald Trump.  Not $364 million, but  $453.5 million .  The judge added interest, which will continue to accrue at 9%/year as long as Trump appeals, which could well be years.  So as long as he doesn't settle and pay, Trump will continue to lose an additional $50 million or so per year.  Add the $88.3 million to E. Jean Carroll, and the personal loss so far for Trump is $542 million, plus an annual interest of nearly $55 million/year if he keeps appealing.  How much is Trump worth?   According to both  Forbes  and  Bloomberg , around $2.4 billion . About the Fani Willis disqualification hearings, Judge Scott McAfee will rule in one or two weeks.  Current MSNBC and CNN sentiment is that Judge McAfee will allow Willis to continue tormenting Donald Trump and his cohorts, with continued trials in May. Okay, the weekend has begun, and, remember that Monday is a national holiday, President's Day.  So there is some b
