First, on the Congressional front: 52-year old Mike Johnson ( on the left ,  becomes 53 on January 30 ), from Louisiana, narrowly, and with some difficulty, was voted on the first ballot as Speaker of the House.  This was expected, but was nevertheless an embarrassment the way it happened. 63-year old  John Thune  ( he turns 64 on January 7 ), from South Dakota, is now Majority Leader of the Senate, replacing Mitch McConnell. Then, the daily Donald Trump incident.   Judge Juan Merchan denied Trump's bid to dismiss the case, and said the sentencing will be announced on January 10 , ten days before Inauguration Day.  Whew for Trump, for the judge did also say that there will be no jail sentence at this time.  Huh?  Well, let's see what Merchan says on January 10. Our Monumental Global Adventure....or OMG Adventure....or Oh My God Adventure....was indeed memorable.  But before summarizing the entire trip, just had to first insert the latest travail....and trial....of Donald Trump. With all his tribulations, the  latest poll  just released by the New York Times and Siena College showed that Donald Trump leads Joe Biden in five of six key swing states.  What is wrong with America? Which is why I lead off with him. Michael Cohen is today testifying in Donald Trump's hush money trial, and will be doing so for a couple more days. Stormy Daniels did great last week. Why is Playboy model Karen McDougal not testifying?  Possibly because she was paid by the National Enquirer not to reveal that she had an affair with Trump.  There is a sense that Stormy did enough damage, and too much salaciousness might hurt the prosecution. Marjorie Greene finally did call a vote to  eject Mike Johnson  as speaker.  She lost by a vote of 359-43, with a lot of help from Democrats.  House Republicans are deciding if there should be consequences, about Greene, for even bringing this to the floor.  How things have changed. Stormy Daniels will be back today to even more bedevil Donald Trump.  Will there be further  graphic testimony ?  She was at one point scolded by Judge Juan Merchan for such language.  He has already threatened to jail Trump for his outbursts.  Watch her  five years ago with Jimmy Kimmel .
