NEWS OF THE DAY

What is the status of  the Iran vs USA/Israel War? The fragile talks are still on, but only barely. Iran is not happy, so there are no technical discussions today.   Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei challenged President Donald Trump and President Benjamin Netanyahu , and indicated that it is a religious duty to kill those who caused the death of his father. Israel indicated that it won't leave Lebanon until Hezbollah disarms. That European Heat Dome? Is moving to Eastern Europe. Says the New York Times . While tying a single heat wave to climate change requires extensive analysis, scientists have no doubt that heat waves around the world are becoming hotter, longer and more frequent, and Europe is warming faster than any other continent . What about temperatures in DC for our 250th birthday celebrations? Some models collected by Capital Weather see a high temperature of 106 degrees Fahrenheit in D.C. on Friday—which would tie the city’s all-time high temperature record ...

IS A VELOMOBILE THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY FOR HUMANS TO TRAVEL?

Today is a Wednesday, which for me is usually sci-tech day.  But a few newsworthy notes first. Inflation last month reached 4.2%, the highest level in three years .  Of course, part of this problem is the war in Iran, for gasoline alone jumped 7%, up 40.5% in the the past year. Then two weeks later, I further provided key reasons why he ...

MAYBE DEMOCRACY HAS BEEN SAVED

Eight weeks minus one day until November 5, but the Donald Trump vs Kamala Harris presidential debate last night gives higher hopes for Democracy in the USA into the future.  Here was the status before the debate: Big (6'3" tall) and boisterous Donald Trump at the left podium.  A veteran of six presidential debates. Demure (5'4") and smiling Kamala Harris at the right podium.  No experience at this level. A former president versus a little known vice-president. What happened? At introduction, Harris went right up to Trump's podium and surprised him with a handshake, introducing herself and saying,  let's have a good debate . Trump seemed uncomfortable and appeared to back off. Trump for nearly one hour and 45 minutes looked angry and stared into empty space or at the moderators. Harris was calm and forceful, many times looking directly at Trump, but mostly staring into the camera when she spoke.  Her body language was superb.  I don't recall Trump, turning...
