SORRY FOR THE DELAY.  THE INTERNET IN THIS BUILDING WAS OUT MOST OF THE DAY. This was a generally bad Monday for much of humanity, and tomorrow could well be pivotal.  Today is August 5, with the U.S. presidential election three months away on November 5.  I'll start with Mike Lukovich's latest cartoon, indicating what is happening to the Trump presidential campaign, which I guess is good news for Freedom. The world stock market might well be crashing: The  U.S.  Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 1,030.5 points ( -2.72% ), with the Nasdaq Composite  -3.38% and S&P 500 -3%. But the  Japan Nikkei had its worst day since 1987, falling 12.4% , mainly caused by disappointing U.S economic data. Some blamed the Federal Reserve for not acting expeditiously last week. I'll get to Freida later, but will start with another Democratic Party strategy to win the presidential election.  If just another 2% of voters can be swayed to vote for them because of this issue, that will make a huge difference in various races, especially for Congress, which is looking more and more like Republican victories in both chamber of Congress.  That bit of strategy is the Supreme Court.  This further shows how important President Joe Biden is in this presidential campaign. Biden today announced a program to reform the Supreme Court , including term limits. Will these measures pass through Congress in the coming years?  Nah, but just the mentioning of their brokenness, will gain a few votes for Democrats, as members of the court have had scandal problems, while the whole body has become unpopular for their decisions on abortion rights and the environment, while making Donald Trump immune from prosecution, increasing the chances of his destroying Democrac...

 The news of the day: 70% of American adults have taken at least one shot , finally hitting Biden's target, but about a month late.   However, keep in mind that the 0-11 age group has not yet been vaccinated, and they represent 15% the U.S. population.   This means that the unvaccinated figure is slightly higher than 40%. According to my posting yesterday, the Delta variant means herd immunity is at 92%.  We are thus today below 60%. Some states have returned to mandatory masking. While we are a humane country and don't want our citizens in jeopardy, those vaccinated are actually being discriminated against. What about allowing the vaccinated full freedom to not wear masks and letting them enter theaters, restaurants, cruise ships, airplanes and the like, while preventing those unvaccinated from these privileges?
