A FEW THIS AND THATS

I  yesterday  featured China's really big parade.  Here are some highlights.  Today, a few this and thats entering the weekend.  About those Trump tariffs, here is  one summary .  Countries with the largest trade deficits.  From the  New York Times  this morning.  China is #1. The National Football League begins today: Opening tonight:  8:20 EDT, NBC, Cowboys at Eagles. The tomorrow night, Friday:  8 PM EDT, You Tube,  Chiefs at Chargers . This game is being played in Sao Paulo, Brazil. How do you watch a game on You Tube?   Click on this site . The full schedule this weekend . Hawaii's home team, because of QB Tua Tagovailoa, has become the Miami Dolphins.  They play the Baltimore Colts at 7AM on CBS, our local time. The Monday night game on ESPN is at 8:15PM EDT, Vikings at Bears. I decided not to have any NFL fantasy teams this year, mostly because I'll be away on two trips in October, November, Dece...

ENJOY LIFE: Watch Sports on TV

A grand weekend of sports watching is here.  While this has little meaning for many, sports on TV, with some actual golfing on the side, are important parts of my life, with eating, sleeping and other viewing pleasure from Netflix/Prime and the like.  And in my case, I will only live this once. One sport possibly only important in Hawaii, is volleyball.  The NCAA Women's season begins tonight with #3 Pittsburg vs #1 Nebraska and #16 Florida vs #6 Stanford, both available on FOX.  Hawaii has a new team, is not in the top 20, and plays Marquette next Friday, August 29. Week Zero of NCAA football is this weekend. The first game of the season is always exciting because you are undefeated and could possibly go on to a perfect season.  Hawaii almost did that in 2007, and went on to play Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on 1January2008. Looking ahead, Saturday, November 1, looks good, with Alabama vs LSU, Penn State vs Ohio State, Georgia vs Florida, Miami vs SMU, South ...

THE WEEK TO COME

The future of Democracy for the USA got a boost from former Congresswoman Liz Cheney and her father, former  Congressman, Vice President under George W. Bush and White House Chief of Staff for President Gerald Ford.  Like JD Vance, Dick Cheney graduated from Yale.  Liz is a law school graduate from the University of Chicago. Better yet, it appears that Liz will campaign with Harris as needed and the  Harris-Walz team raised $361 million August, triple that of Trump-Vance .  Plus all those  additional campaign volunteers  to boost their ground game. The highlight of this coming week is the Donald Trump vs Kamala Harris debate. Finally, some good news for Boeing and NASA.  The  Starliner spacecraft returned to Earth, but without the two astronauts.   When are they returning, and how?   A lot of unknowns remain .  Looks like February of 2025, with SpaceX looming to be the carrier.  But the USA might need to ask Russia fo...
