The University of Hawaii Foundation now has an annual luncheon to honor its donors, and I happened to sit next to Chip Fletcher, dean of the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST). Welcome by President Wendy Hensel. Chip has effectively been dean of SOEST for now around a decade. We talked about things in general, but in particular, he thought that I would find interest in a paper he published with others.
