THE TRUMP ENERGY PROGRAM

From  Time  magazine, I begin with a slew of Trump topics.  You can read the details. The unpopular Big Beautiful Bill is now in the House . The only truly effective anti-Trump person:  Elon Musk. The Trump Gaza ceasefire proposal . The July 4th Free American Anti-Trump Protest planned across the USA . This site began as a renewable energy and environment blog, and has evolved to just about any subject.  I try to keep Wednesdays for sci-tech, with perhaps a monthly focus on energy.  More recently, I've drawn from the  Energy Matters  info sent to me by the American Energy Society.  I'm inserting direct quotes this time to eliminate my predilections for more credibility. This service starts with some broad topics. - Fossil fuels: Helium is locked in a supply crunch, and prices are surging. - Renewables: Congress will probably pass new renewable fuel standards for 2026 and 2027. - Policy: President Trump is now focused on Califor...

DEMOCRACY, U.S. DOLLAR AND SQUID GAME Season 3

Sure, the Supreme Court is being influenced by associate justices from Donald Trump's first term.  And of course, it is a conservative court.  However, their final decision for this season was announced today, and gives Trump what he wanted.  Block birthright citizenship to children of illegal immigrants, and also, in effect, curtailing the power of individual district court judges.  I can't believe they are colluding with him.  They must be just buying time to avoid judgement day, for if Trump defies a major decision by them, he becomes a dictator, for the Supreme Court, and too the U.S. Congress, don't have any enforcement powers.  The makers of our Constitution screwed up with this flaw.  By what happened today, American Democracy seems safe until next October. The U.S.dollar has dipped to a 3-year low.   Why?  Blame President Donald Trump. What this means is you are paying more for imported goods.  Maybe Trump is getting what he...

ENERGY MATTERS

The big news of the day is the  longest presidential address to Congress in history .  President Donald Trump talked for a little more than 100 minutes.  I watched the whole thing, and wonder why. Many Democrats did not even show up, and  some just left during his speech , with  Rep. Al Green  (D-Texas) being booted out.  Several held small signs.  Women wore mostly pink.  Others wore blue/yellow in support of Ukraine. He mostly bragged about doing so much. He repeated his assertion to take over Greenland and the Panama Canal. Assailed the Biden Administration a lot, calling Joe the worst president in American history.  One of his lies/exaggerations, for polls have  Trump as the worst .  In that survey, Biden came in as the 14th greatest president. Here is  one example : “Over 130,000 people, according to the Social Security databases, are aged over 160 years old,” Trump asserted. He then added there are 1,041 people over ...

MAYDAY! MAYDAY!

The most vulnerable nominated Trump secretaries testified this week.   Kash Patel ( right ) for FBI director is the most likely to be confirmed, for he played the game.  Tossed in one anti-Trump position to show some minor independence ( didn’t think violent Jan. 6 rioters who assaulted law enforcement   deserved a break ) and soft-peddled his MAGA flamethrower persona. Tulsi Gabbard for national intelligence head could not say Edward Snowden was a traitor, and this could hurt her.  Plus, did not quite provide satisfactory answers to softball questions by Republicans.  But her reputation is not severely toxic like Pete Hegseth, and she was reasonably composed. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Secretary of Health and Human Services, continued to show a controversial position on vaccination, has a general personality which is flawed ( he looks guilty all the time ) and confrontation with committee chairman Bill Cassidy (who is a physician) make RFK Jr. the most like...
