THE REPUBLICAN PLAN TO WIN THE PRESIDENCY

BREAKING NEWS!!!  Nine months ago, after a court case, Donald Trump, 77, paid $5 million to E. Jean Carroll, 80, who accused him in 2019 of sexually abusing her in 1996.  He continued to defame her, so she sued again, but for only $24 million more.  However, in a judgement just announced, the jury of 9  penalized Trump another $83.3 million  for his big mouth, fat fingers and deplorable actions.   One beginning editorial:  I can't understand why Trump only strengthens the link with his MAGA group, while alienating the margin of difference (those Republicans and Independents who are solid American citizens) the group that will make the difference in determining the next U.S. president.  Surely he understands, and his close supporters too, that blasting out as he does like an uncontrolled loudmouth on autocracy, misogyny and other hot topics, is no way to swing those key voters to support him.  My only presumption is that he is  mentally unstable. A couple of days ago I posted on:

A STORM FORETOLD

First, a little equal time for those running against Donald Trump.   Yesterday, Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis on  CNN town hall  events actually, and finally, began to criticize Donald Trump.  But the only remaining primary question is:  Can Haley beat DeSantis in Iowa, and can DeSantis beat Haley in New Hampshire. Today, President Joe Biden played his democracy card on a speech at Valley Forge . 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia. 149 miles northeast of DC. Valley Forge was virtually insignificant in the Revolutionary War, though the park there commemorates the perseverance of George Washington and his forces. And, by the way, that painting of  Washington Crossing the Delaware  on Christmas night in 1776 by German artist Emanuel Leutze is all wrong. He never stood, it was too dangerous. He looked old in the painting, but was only 44. There was no light, the attack was in the middle of the night. The crew was all white. The flag was not used until six months later. But another Trump upd

SCI-TECH DAYS TO COME

First, what happened to the predicted Red Wave?   Time  magazine called it a  Pink Splash .  The  Washington Times  said:   The Vaunted Red Wave Never Hit the Shore . In a nutshell, we won't know until tonight, or later this week, and maybe not till December, about Senate and House control. At this moment, Republicans look to be in a favorable position to run the House.  It will come down to how many Democrats can flip Republican House seats in California. Love this quote from  CalMatters: Like   Schrodinger’s Cat , the ambiguously fated feline in the physicist’s thought experiment who is both alive and dead simultaneously, California election results currently exist in a kind of quantum state of uncertainty . Turns out that this state has Election Month.  Everything is in slow motion. So when will we know for sure?  Hopefully this Friday, but it could be in December. But it doesn't really matter, for the  Senate  could well also not be determined until December 6, when  Raphae

DEMOCRACY VERSUS PUTIN IN FRANCE

In one corner we have incumbent President of France Emmanuel Macron and in the other, Marine Le Pen, buddy of Vladimir Putin, and threat to destroy democracy and the European Union.  Is the free world in danger? Well, I don't think so.  While Pen is supposedly in a stronger position today than she was when she ran against Macron in 2017, the Ukraine War essentially destroyed her chances.  Not too many Putin fans in France.  Further,  Macron won the 2.5 hours presidential debate held on May 3, 63% to 34%.    Macron is still only 39 years old, and Pen is 48. Her father was founder of the National Front ( her supporting party ) and regularly tried to become president since 1974.  They are anti-Muslim and said to be creepily fascists.  However, she expelled her father from his party in 2015 for carrying extreme views. Marine is, in too many ways, a  female Donald Trump .  She and her father somehow avoid paying taxes, are anti-immigration, soon after Trump became president headed for T
