Democrat Tom Suozzi beat Republican Mazi Pilip to take the New York congressional seat that was left vacant when Republican George Santos was expelled from the House of Representatives.  Did you know that former speaker Kevin McCarthy not only lost his leadership, but he outright resigned from Congress?  There are now, I think, 219 Republicans, 213 Democrats, with three vacancies, all Republican seats.  Speaker Mike Johnson's job is getting more complicated.   How important is just one more Democratic seat in the House?  Well, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas got impeached yesterday by one vote.  Had Suozzi been there, that would have failed again.  This matter dies here anyway, for the Senate won't do anything about any further impeachment.   About McCarthy , he now has time to work behind the scenes to hurt the re-election chances of Republicans who ousted him.
