LV THE PLACE AND SIROCCO

The   Bangkok Post  has a once a month feature segment, Elite Life, bringing the best of luxury lifestyle in Bangkok.  The front page highlight was entitled   Journey from Jura , featuring the marriage of Louis Vuitton and Chef Gaggan Anand.   In short, here is the story: Louis was born in the Jura region of France in 1821. At the age of 33 he established his eponymous brand in Paris in 1854, 170 years ago. He established his reputation by making travel trunks for Napolen III's wife, Empress Eugenie. His trunks were weatherproof and light, with an unpickable lock.  That design began then. In 1987 LV merged with Moet et Chandon and Hennessey, becoming LVMH. Today, a LV bag can cost from $1,200 to $36,000, but knock offs can be found in Thailand, China, etc. for $20 or so. You probably did not know this, but Bernard Arnault heads LVMH and, with a worth of $235 billion, is the richest person in the world.  #2 is Jeff Bezos of Amazon at $194 billion and #3 Elon Musk of Tesla/SpaceX at

BILLIONAIRE LIFESTYLES

One more craziness about the frozen Iowa caucus today.   Republican candidates have spent $123 million in advertising so far.   With such low temperatures throughout the state tonight, it would not be surprising if only 123,000 show up to vote.  $1,000/vote????  In the  2020 presidential election, $14.4 billion  was spent to gain 155.4 million votes.  That calculates to around $10/vote.  Does this make any sense?  Incidentally, the first official primary election state for Democrats is South Carolina, although only Joe Biden will get votes.  Bet you did not know that  President Grover Cleveland is on the newest $1000 bill , which has been discontinued.  The  appraised value if you have one is $5000. We're better off in the USA than anywhere else.  I say this on the basis of the following from  Wikipedia  ranking household expenditure per capita/year: #1      United States          $43,931 #2      Hong Kong             $37,893 #3      Luxembourg           $33,647 #4      Bermuda

MUSK'S STARSHIP CRASHES

SpaceX's Starship crashed.  Was that just the other day?   Yes,  but there have also been others. Read this article in Space.com that was published 5 days ago entitled,  Every SpaceX Starship explosion what Elon Musk and his team learned from them .  At the site you can watch them all.   Time magazine explained why another explosion is no big deal .   Well, if you fail, try, try, again.  That apparently is Musk's attitude.   The U.S. space program began ignominiously . In 1955 the U.S. announced plans to put a satellite into orbit, targeted for the International Geophysical Year in 1957-58. But the Soviet Union on 23October1957 placed Sputnik 1 into orbit. Embarrassed, we swiftly tossed together on 6December1957 our first package, called by Nikita Krushhev as a grapefruit, and on live television, we saw the the effort rise 4 feet, fall over and explode.   Our grapefruit landed in bushes near the pad and began transmitting signals.  Dorothy Kilgallen remarked,  Why doesn't s
