THE PARIS SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES HAVE BEGUN

The USA today played France in soccer.  What hope do we have in upsetting the host nation, which is favored to win the gold in this event?  Low.  However...  Incidentally, Morocco already upset Argentina, #2 to get the Gold, 2-1. And by the way,  another team USA played two games today, in Men's Rugby 7's .  Huh?  Yes, you never heard of that, and America is sort of deficient.  However, first, they tied FRANCE. 12-12, which is the second favorite team to win the gold medal.  Alas, we got trounced by #4 Fiji, 33-5.  That's a country?  Sure, stopped by myself for a visit there last year.  Rugby is the national sport of this nation, which also today beat Uruguay 40-12.  Because of that tie, we do have hope to make the quarterfinals, and  have a 21% chance of winning one of the three medals .  Argentina is favored to win the Gold. According to this source, the  USA will win the most gold medals . Bet type: Team ...

SO HOW WAS OUR CRUISE ON THE PRIDE OF AMERICA?

We returned yesterday to Honolulu after one week on the Norwegian Pride of America.  Departing Kauai. A Liberty dinner with Abraham Lincoln. The best wine on this cruise was Conundrum. Dinner. Goodbye Abe. Saturday morning, arrival in Honolulu. A rainbow greeted us. Before departing the ship, had our first breakfast. All in all it was worth the money and enjoyable.  On the other hand, there were issues that make me want to say I won't again board this ship until certain improvements occur.  For one, the WiFi was terrible.  When we asked a staff member, they uniformly said all is fine.  But I guess that this what they are told to say in that nothing was wrong because this is the way it is on this ship.  It typically took me several minutes to download a photo when it should have been two seconds.  What made it worse was that we not that long ago returned on a 53-day cruise on the Seabourn Odyssey, and in the most remote portions of the South Paci...

SOMETHING MORE ENTERTAINING THAN TRUMP OR OTHER CATACLYSMS: Sports

This blog site has too much recently focused on natural disasters and Donald Trump, so today, an escape into sports. Must start with Spain beating England for their first  soccer World Cup .  From utter turmoil to triumph, what a story.   The women had revolted against their Spanish soccer authority, and lost that battle .  Perhaps 12 of their best players might have been missing in Australia.  Yet, they're world champs.  Incredible. Oh, I drafted three ESPN NFL fantasy football teams yesterday.  Took me two hours.   Mind you, it is FREE. Had no idea what I was doing, but ended up, I think, with competitive teams.   First kick-off is not until the day after my birthday, a game between Detroit and Kansas City  (I have Mahomes and Kelce ) on September 7.  I'll be on the Pride of America between the Big Island and Kauai. There will be three games this year in London and two in Frankfurt.  They had one game in Munich...
