HOW TO STREAM

This is Monday, 1June2026.

  • Maybe the U.S. can't convince Israel to pull back from Lebanon.
  • Plus, we again bombed Iran and stopped missiles fired at American troops in Kuwait.
  • The Strait of Hormuz is not totally closed, for 2 ships/day passed through this past week, a trickle compared to the average of 130 ships/day before the war began.  Gas prices are high and fertilizer shortages are occurring.
  • Even worse, Iran might work with its proxies in Yeman to close the Strait of Bab el-Mandeb, totally cutting off oil shipments from Saudi Arabia.  Sure, there is the Suez, but that significantly adds shipping cost.
Last month was an amazing one for this blog.

  • This original site began in April of 2008, and will be 18 years old at the end of the month.  I do this daily, though I had to skip a few while in China (they've long had a feud with Google, which produces this blog), and some trains don't have internet.
  • It took around 16 years to reach 3 million viewers.  That's an average of around 500/day.
  • Something extraordinary just happened because just in the month of May, which ended yesterday, 3,008,460 people read this blog.  That's around 100,000/day.  Yes, this site, why I don't know, went viral.
  • However, the peak came and went, for "only" 25,000 viewers now visit, and I expect that number to drop to 10,000/day, and probably much less, for, remember, this blog site only averaged 500 readers/day for most of its life.
  • For the record, total readership exceeded 8.5 million yesterday.  Actual more, because a few years ago I had to open a new site, for the original version ran out of something called labels, words which link this site to the world wide web.  So if you are reading the version that has my photo at the top, that is the original.  If you see a rainbow over Diamond Head, that is the new one.
  • Half the viewers are from the USA.  Singapore is an outlier, for they are far ahead in viewers/capita.  So far, 221 "countries" have visited this site.  Yes, I too know that there are only 193 nations in the United Nations.  But the Google domains extend to some territories, islands and places like Antarctica.

Part 2 of MY LIFE will come tomorrow, for that is my usual nostalgia day.  Today?  How to stream.

  • Why this topic?
    • Streaming allows you to optimize your viewing options.
    • Last night I wondered why I was not watching Korean series anymore, for in the past, there were many highly rated shows on Netflix, and they were indeed outstanding.
    • So I asked Google AI, what are the 100-rated Rotten Tomatoes Korean series now available on Netflix.

Several critically acclaimed Korean series stream on Netflix had perfect 100% scores on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer. Top-rated titles span multiple genres: [1, 2]
  • Mask Girl (2023): A dark thriller about an insecure office worker who finds fame as a masked internet streamer, leading to unexpected, chaotic twists. [1, 2]
  • Queen of Tears (2024): A record-breaking romantic comedy that follows the turbulent marriage of a wealthy heiress and a humble small-town legal director. [1, 2]
  • Parasyte: The Grey (2024): A sci-fi horror series where otherworldly parasites fall to earth and attempt to take over human hosts. [1, 2, 3]
  • My Name (2021): A gritty revenge thriller following a woman who joins a powerful crime syndicate and goes undercover as a police officer to find her father's killer. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
  • Daily Dose of Sunshine (2023): A heartwarming psychological drama centering on a kind-hearted nurse working in a psychiatric ward. [1]
  • Chicken Nugget (2024): An absurd, surreal comedy where a father attempts to rescue his daughter after she is accidentally transformed into a piece of fried chicken. [1, 2]
  • A Killer Paradox (2024): A dark crime thriller about an ordinary college student who accidentally discovers he has the supernatural ability to identify evildoers. [1, 2, 3]
  • Little Women (2022): A tense mystery drama following three impoverished sisters who get entangled in a major corruption case involving South Korea's wealthiest family. [1, 2]

To further check, I went to IMDb, and the list was different.  They had four more, all the above, plus  The Extraordinary Attorney Woo (2022--this one is really terrific, and Season 2 is in production), Doctor Slum (2024), D.P. (2021), Crash Landing on You 2019), Moving (2023)  Crash Course in Romance (2023).

I went one step further, and watched Crash Course in Romance last night.
  • Listed as a limited series.
  • However, there are 16 episodes, each 70 minutes long
  • Do you want to invest almost 20 hours of your time?
  • Episode 1 was excellent.  I will continue to watch.
Other streaming channels also show 100% Korean dramas.  Here is a list from Collider, which includes Moving on Disney+ and Hulu. 20 episodes, each 20-40 minutes long.  Rotten Tomatoes:  100/97.  Season 2 is in production.

So what is streaming?

Streaming is playing audio or video content directly from the internet in real-time, without needing to download the files to your device first.  For the more advanced, streaming in Google AI refers to real-time, two-way interaction where the AI sees, hears, and talks with you dynamically. Instead of waiting to read or type text, you can converse with models like Gemini Live, share your screen, or use a webcam for live, visual guidance. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]  This allows you to brainstorm, ask questions, or learn software as if an expert is looking right over your shoulder. [1]

Well, I do stream, I'm not advanced.  I merely find a streaming channel (I have most all, largely free, for that is a perquisite in you live at 15 Craigside in Honolulu).  I select a movie or series, but first check with Rotten Tomatoes on the rating, and watch it if one of the two scores (reviewers and audiences) is 90 or above.  These channels have their own top ten, some in more than one category, and many of these programs listed fall in the 50% and lower range.  Many of these really waste your precious time.

The Streamable gets sent to me regularly, updating the latest availability.  Here is their must-watch title on every major streamer in June.

And, by the way, not immediately:
  • Disney+, Avatar: Fire and Ash, #3 in series, June 24.
  • HBO Max, House of the Dragon, Season 3, June 21.
  • Paramount+, Central Intelligence:  The Agency, Season 2, June 21.  Interesting Rotten Tomatoes ratings of 66 by reviewers and 100 from the audiences.  The audience is us, and usually closer to the truth.  So I'll watch it.  Michael Fassbender is the lead and one of the executive producers.  George Clooney is also one of the EPs, and Richard Gere makes an appearance.
  • Click here to find the dates for the other premieres.
  • In many of these, you thus have several weeks to first watch the earlier releases to prepare you for the latest.
I close with an announcement.  Episode 48 of the Kilauea eruption began this morning.  Watch this Instagram page.  More and more, visitors to Halemaumau are being warned.  For example, for this fountaining, be aware of wind direction and where you stand:
The north vent lava fountain appears to have reached it peak eruption height at more than 650 ft high (200 m), based on seismic and deformation signals.  Episode 48 breaks the record for the most lava fountaining episodes ever recorded during a Kīlauea eruption. The record had been tied at 47 episodes, and was shared with the initial phase of the Pu‘u‘ō‘ō eruption from 1983 to 1986.
The Observatory says the episode will likely continue for many more hours.  Ash and tephra up to several inches in diameter, as well as strands of Pele’s hair, were reported at the Uēkahuna overlook in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park.  The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said tephra is also falling on Highway 11 near and west of the Nāmakanipaio campground between mile marker 32 and 34.  “The plume from this eruption is currently reaching 24,000 feet above sea level,” the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory wrote in a Volcanic Activity Notice issued just before 6 a.m. HST. “Ground-level sensors near the eruptive vents indicate that winds are blowing from the northeast direction, and could potentially disperse tephra to the southwest. The National Weather Service indicates winds are from the south at 10,000 to 20,000 feet above sea level, and could potentially disperse tephra to the north.”

What is tephra?  A volcanological term for any fragmental rock or lava blasted into the air of carried by hot gases during an explosive eruption.  Its an umbrella term that includes everything from fine volcanic ash to massively heavy boulders.

Hawaii today celebrates King Kamehameha the First Day as a public holiday.  Next Monday, June 19, or  Juneteenth,  is a Federal holiday.  However, 22 states, including Hawaii, do not recognize this as a public holiday.  Four of these will begin to honor this day next year, not Hawaii.  Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery.  Here are the Hawaii holidays, and note three that only we have: New Year’s Day: 1st day in January Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: 3rd Monday in January Presidents’ Day: 3rd Monday in February Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole Day: 26th day in March Good Friday: Friday before Easter Easter:   Calculating Easter Memorial Day: Last Monday in May King Kamehameha I Day: 11th day in June Independence Day: 4th day in July Statehood Day: 3rd Friday in August Labor Day: 1st Monday in September Veterans’ Day: 11th day in November Thanksgiving Day: 4th Thursday in November Christmas: 25th day in December There are  11 paid Fede...

HOW TO WATCH NETFLIX SHOWS

But first, maybe  President Donald Trump's 20-point Gaza Peace Plan is showing some progress .   No one expects the Hamas to accept all of them, but they did agree to release all captives and the act of handing over administration to Palestinian technocrats. So far, in the Gaza Strip, 66,288 have been killed and 169,165 wounded.   On 7October2023, almost two years ago, 1139 were killed in the initial Hamas-led attack. About my topic of the day, I've long been lamenting the overflow of watchable films and series available on Netflix and Prime.  Why expand into the plethora of other streaming options when I can't keep up with what I have, which costs me around $30/month.  And, of course, why venture out to a movie theater to end up watching a film that will cost me around that amount of money, when you add the popcorn, drink, gasoline cost, time it takes to get there and back, and the risk of a car accident or worse.  Oh, also getting infected with ...
