A big news day.Who is Dana White? Interesting life.
- Regarding the War with Iran, is this the 41st Groundhog Day this year, or the Real Deal?

- On the sports front.
- In the FIFA World Cup, yesterday Mexico beat South Africa before a crowd of 81,000 in Mexico City, 2-0, and in Guadalajara, 45,000 watched South Korea make a late comeback to edge Czechia, 2-1. The most spectacular play of either game was Hwang In-beom's goal with 10 minutes left.
- Today, Canada vs Bosnia/Herzegovina, and tonight, the USA vs Paraguay at 9PM EDT. 70,000 expected in Los Angeles Stadium. Complicated, but this name is temporary only for these World Cup Games. The arena will revert back to SoFi Stadium, but be again temporarily changed to 2028 Stadium for the Los Angeles Summer Olympics. Has to do with legality and corporate sponsorship. That 01:00 time to the right is Greenwich Mean Time.
- The NBA Knicks, leading 3-1, will be in San Antonio for their fifth game on Saturday.
- The NHL Hurricanes, leading 3-2, host the Las Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday.

- Another great bit of timing, for UFC CEO Dana White is on the cover of Time magazine this week.
- Was born in Connecticut in 1969, and bounced around as a youth, was a bellhop and bouncer, and took up boxing, but was afraid of becoming punch drunk, so went into coaching, then promoting.
- In his early 20's skipped town (Boston) to Las Vegas because he was threatened by mobster Whitey Bulger for not paying a debt.
- Was close to Lorenzo Fertitta, who had co-founded Station Casinos, and commissioner of the Nevada Athletic Commission, acquired the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in 2001 and installed White as company president, who was then 31 years old.
- Interestingly enough, White's first UFC fights, #30 and #31, were held in the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. Trump had reached out to help White, who could not work out other deals.
- White hired Joe Rogan as color commentator in 2002, and he has since then more recently had the most popular podcast on Spotify.
- White was good at this, and by 2008, the company was valued at $1.1 billion.
- Added females Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche, in 2013, then Conor McGregor to the team.
- Promoted the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Conor McGregor match in 2017.

- Also in 2025 joined the board of Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.).
- Was there in the 2026 White House Correspondent's Dinner shooting attempt on Trump on his table.
- Plays high stakes blackjack in Las Vegas at $75,000/hand. Also wagers $350,000/hand at baccarat in Caesars Palace. Claims to have lost $8 million in one night, but won $26 million at Caesars Palace in a three month period in 2024. Waiting for the day to play a $1 million/hand.
