THE RENEWABLE ENERGY BUDGET OF THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY

Unless you have a personal interest in the 2023 budget of the U.S. Department of Energy, you will find much of the following awfully boring.

To begin, the White House sends its fiscal year 2023 request in March of 2022.
The U.S. Congress fusses around and usually can't get its act together.
Thus, an Omnibus spending bill is agreed to so that government can operate.
Late in 2022 President Joe Biden signed this $1.7 trillion bill that will keep the government operating until the end of September of this year.
That is, if the current House of Representatives can play nice.

To start, a few things about the Federal budget. Got a few hours? Read this. Well, what about pie charts to summarize the essence?

They're all the same, but pie charts can be confusing. For example, is all of energy that small? Then renewable energy is a truly tiny part of the national budget.

Now you know a sliver of where your tax dollars go.

DAY 1 on the DIAMOND PRINCESS

ON THE MATTER OF PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

Hawaii today celebrates King Kamehameha the First Day as a public holiday. Next Monday, June 19, or Juneteenth, is a Federal holiday. However, 22 states, including Hawaii, do not recognize this as a public holiday. Four of these will begin to honor this day next year, not Hawaii. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery.
