GOODBYE DUBAI

Haven't said much about the Jumeirah Emirates Tower Hotel.  In short, good location, but disappointing, considering the $750/night price.  The hotel staffing is also deficient, except that the restaurant people are nice and efficient.  I wouldn't stay here again.  Lobby and our view.

For dinner Saturday night we went to Mundo, a buffet, which had a wide assortment of stations.  Here are just a few.

That was my first course.  For Sunday breakfast we went back to Mundo, which had, of course, a similar assortment of dishes.

We took a stroll to the Museum of the Future, for there is a convenient walkway there from the hotel.

Inside view of museum.
Walked outside.

Our hotel is to the right, and that view we saw yesterday is that arena below.

You ask, what was inside the museum?  Couldn't get tickets, for the place is sold out for the year.  Did not want to pay scalpers' prices, which is offered by the hotel.  I'll come the next time I'm back by booking advanced reservations, for there is a metro stop close by.

After a glance at the first World Cup game between Qatar and Ecuador...which Ecuador won 2-0...for dinner we went up to the 50th Floor  (note that this is 20 stories higher than the tallest building in Hawaii) to Dasha.

Dim sum and truffle wagyu beef dumpling, followed by black pepper lamb, with hot sake and Johnny Walker Black Label scotch.  For the price, not so good.  But that is because we are not accustomed to Middle and Far East cuisine.  Everything was over sauced.  But on thinking about it, the tradition must have begun a long time ago when lamb was very gamy.  Now, not so, so there is too much flavor added.

Well, we had breakfast at Mundo again, and will soon depart for the Regent Seven Seas Explorer.
