Summary:
- The USA continues to lead the world in new deaths/day with 249 yesterday.
- Thus, the rate of new deaths/day has not changed in four months.
- There is a definite decline for the World now, but the new deaths figure yesterday was similar to what it was in June.
- #2 is Japan with 192 new deaths/day and #3 Germany 117.
- Japan continues to lead the world in new cases/day with 99,546 yesterday.
- However, this is less than half the rate of their peak a few weeks ago.
- #2 was South Korea with 71,432 new cases/day...and the USA was #5 with 40,407.
- The USA is way in front with more than 97 million total cases, #2 is India with 44.5 million and #3 France with 35 million.
- The USA is #1 in total deaths with slightly more than a million, Brazil #2 with around 700,000 and India #3 with around half a million.
Today, something you surely must have known for a long time. Want to reduce your risk of dementia? Walk.
- 10,000 steps/day would be nice, but even 3800 would be pretty good.
- 10,000 steps would take an average person about 5 miles.
- 3800 steps equal about two miles.
- People between 40 and 79 who walk around 10,000 steps/day were 50% less likely to develop dementia within seven years.
- Those who walked at a 40 steps/minute pace cut their risk of dementia by 57% with just 6,315 steps/day. For most people, this means walking 3 miles in 45 minutes to an hour.
- 3800 steps/day at any speed cuts your risk of dementia by 25%.
- The largest reduction in dementia risk of 62% was achieved by those who walked 112 steps per minute for 30 minutes/day. Here's a pedometer chart you can consult to do your own calculations.
- If you don't like to count, get a watch with a step counter, or a pedometer, which costs $14 from Amazon. Here is a list of the best. The Omron above costs $25. Now at half price.
I'll close with, first, parking at Abu Dhabi International Airport in the United Arab Emirates.
In the UAE's largest city Dubai is the world's busiest airport. We'll be landing there is less than two months. On the other hand, Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is #1 in terms of seats/year. What is the difference? Dubai's number is in terms of international passengers. Confusing?
