DO YOU WANT TO LIVE FOREVER?

That confidential Epstein file of A-listers who participated in his sex-trafficking efforts, which is roiling around the Trump administration, and was the pivotal issue in finally killing the partnership of Donald Trump and Elon Musk, could well be real and life-ruining.  Speaking on The Sean Spicer Show, Alan Dershowitz, famous Harvard lawyer, who is known to be one of those in the file, now then serving as Epstein's lawyer, said he knew names so referenced.  So this issue will continue to fester, and perhaps someday explode.  Is our president a pedophile?

But on to the "spiritual" topic of the day, check the internet, and you essentially get the same answer to how best to increase your longevity for a long and healthy life.

  • Prioritize regular exercise.
  • Adopt a healthy and balanced diet.
  • Cultivate strong social connects.
  • Effectively manage stress.
  • Don't smoke, limit alcohol (and the latest info is, eliminate this liquid), hydrate (drink enough water), get enough sleep and think positively
  • That's it.
But that is not forever.  On 19June2025 my posting was on
Lifespan Limits.  I indicated that the Turritopsis dohrnii, the Immortal Jellyfish, might live for thousands of years.  So might, perhaps, hydra.  Something to do with FoxO genes.  But Homo sapiens?

  • Qin Shi Huang was the first emperor of the Qin dynasty in China, ruling from the age of 13.  He was the one who buried with him the Terracota Army in Xian.  He sought the elixir of life in his later years and drank mercury.  He died at the age of 49 in 210 BC.
    • Actually, this was not all that bad, for this study of China in those early days showed that the average emperor lived for 41 years, compared to Buddhist monks at 70 and physicians at 75.
    • Checking on the world in general, depending on where you lived.
      • Africa, life expectancy of not much more than 25 years until 1940, is now up to 64 years.
      • Asia, 35 until 1870, is today up to 75 years.
      • In the U.S., life expectancy in 1900 was 47 years.  For those born in 2022, the expectation is 77.5 years.
      • Back in the days of cavemen, Paleolithic humans lived to the age of 33.
      • Cities worsened this number, for it is estimated that 2000 years ago during Roman times, average life expectancy was in the 20's.  If you survived to the age of 5, you probably died in your 40s.
      • The range today is 54.4 years in the Central Africa Republic and 85.3 for Hong Kong.  The average for the World is 75.6 for females and 70.8 for males.
  • Diane de Poitiers, a royal mistress to King Henry II in the 16th century, imbibed drinkable gold.  Said to have had the looks of a 30-year old  until her death at 66 in 1566.  However, her remains were exhumed in 2009 and investigators found high levels of gold in her hair.  So gold is what probably killed her.  Still attaining the age of 66 in those days was remarkable.  Maybe that's a clue to living forever.
  • Countess Elizabeth Báthory killed 650 women so she could bath in the blood of her victims to maintain her youth and beauty.  She was caught in 1612, confined to a castle for the rest of her life, and died two years later at 54.
  • Charles-Édouard Brown-Séquard of Mauritius is famous for his Elixir, testicular extracts from guinea pigs and dogs, and died in 1894 at the age of 76.  Must have worked.
  • Some billionaires want to go to Mars.  Sam Altman, tech billionaire and OpenAI CEO has paid Nectome to end his life and upload the contents of his brain to a computer so he can live forever.  He needs to be coherent when this happens and awaits when this will occur.  Of course he still wants to live in his present form as long as possible.  No recent information, but by 2018, 25 people had signed up for this procedure.
  • Peter Thiel is also a billionaire, founded PayPal, and uses blood transfusions to extend life.  Also ingests human-growth hormone pills.  Has invested in Blackrock Neurotech to connect the human brain to computers.  Has taken steps to cryogenically preserve his body.  Altman to the left and Theil in the middle.
  • Elon Musk has no grand plans to live forever, but has expressed interest in a device that allows users to upload their consciousness to the cloud, allowing them to live on once their physical bodies have expired.  But first, he want to colonize Mars, while he continues to take swipes at Donald Trump
  • Anti-death activist James Strole takes 70 supplements, particularly metformin, a pill for type 2 diabetes, which some believe is also an anti-aging solution.
  • Another tech guy, Bryan Johnson, has since 2021 spent $2 million/year on Project Blueprint to attain immortality.  He too takes supplements, 100/daily, sleeps a lot and receives blood plasma transfusions from his teenage son.  There is a Netflix documentary:  Don't Die:  The Man Who Wants to Live Forever.  Only 75/53 from Rotten Tomatoes.

Woody Allen indicated that he didn't want to achieve immortality through his work.  He wanted to achieve it through not dying.  I don't have billions to try to live forever.  My final goal is to just survive healthy for a few more years.  I still go on trips, play golf and exercise in our wellness center.  However, I'm mostly sitting in front of my computer or TV set.  A sedentary life has been medically proven to shorten your life expectancy.

So what do I do?  I can take a walk in my neighborhood, but could trip, get run over by a car, bitten by a dog, mugged by a homeless person, whatever.  Even at home, you can fall.  So do I just stay in bed?

  • Of course not.
  • While longevity is not my goal anymore, I can optimize my limited future.
  • I'm already thankful about my miracle of being born (the odds of this occurring are essentially infinitesimal), and most of my adult life has been devoted to saving Planet Earth and Humanity, as for example this blog.
  • According to The Bible, the overarching purpose of human life is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.  At least this is the Google AI Overview from 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.  This link mentions a lot more about mostly morality.
  • My basic needs are well accommodated, for I live in a senior's community, where we are well- insulated, for guards and cameras are all around us, with air-conditioned comfort and an assured three meals a day with snacks, activities and entertainment.  Daily, there must be half a dozen sessions for tai chi, line dancing, strength training, etc.
  • Should I still wander away on global trips?  Yes, as much as I can until I can't.
  • What else is there?  For me, there is a tomorrow....which has arrived today, and I've decided to do something different.

HONOLULU TO SEATTLE

The story of the day is Hurricane Milton, now a Category 4 at 145 MPH, with a track that has moved further south and the eye projected to make landfall just south of Sarasota.  Good news for Tampa, which is 73 miles north.  Milton will crash into Florida as a Category 4, and is huge, so a lot of problems can still be expected in Tampa Bay with storm surge.  If the eye had crossed into the state just north of Tampa, the damage would have been catastrophic.  Milton is a fast-moving storm, currently at 17 MPH, so as bad as the rainfall will be over Florida, again, a blessing.  The eye will make landfall around 10PM EDT today, and will move into the Atlantic Ocean north of Palm Bay Thursday morning. My first trip to Seattle was in June of 1962 just after I graduated from Stanford University.  Caught a bus. Was called the  Century 21 Exposition .  Also the Seattle World's Fair.  10 million joined me on a six-month run.  My first. These a...

OSAKA EXPO: Day One

Well, the day finally came for us to go to the Osaka Expo.  We were told ahead of time that the long walks would be fearful, giant lines will need to be tolerated just to get into the Expo, with those ocean breezes, it would really be cold, and so forth. Maybe it was pure luck, but we avoided all the above warnings  We had a grand day, and are looking forward to Sunday, our second day at the Expo.  So come along for an enjoyable ride. Our hotel is adjacent to the Tennoji Station, a very large one with several lines.  We upgraded our Suica card and caught the Misosuji red line towards Umeda. Transferred to the Chuo green line at the Hommachi Station.  This Osaka Metro train took us to the Yumeshima Station at the Expo site.   It was a very large mob leaving the train and heading to the entrance. Took only a few minutes to get to the entrance.  This mob was multiplied by at least a factor of  ten of those already waiting to enter.  However...

WHY YOU SHOULD CONVERT TO A JAPANESE HIGH TECH TOILET

Did you know that   Oktoberfest   in Germany is mostly in September?  The very first day of Oktoberfest 2021 was supposed to be today, September 18, extending into October 3.  Well, as in 2020, Oktoberfest was cancelled. So why is it called by that month when it is held mostly in September?  The first celebration in 1810 was in October. Did you also know that Oktoberfest is held only in Munich?  These days seven million drink more than a liter ( about three typical cans ) of beer each, costing around $11.  Except for my wife and I when we followed the crowd to board the S-Bahn to the fairgrounds near Old Town.  It was drizzling a bit.  We bought a large pretzel outside of a typical barn where beer is served.  We did not know that you needed to get this inside the hall.  So no one came to serve us beer.  After a while we decided to have lunch, and the restaurant we settled on only served wine.  Thus, we might have been the ...
