WE'RE OFF TO SEE THE TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUN

Seems like I haven't been on a trip for awhile.  Actually, we returned less than three months ago after our cruises down the Mississippi and from Manhattan to Toronto, then a train ride from Toronto to Vancouver.  On our return, I looked ahead at our next adventure and said:

  • We fly to Iceland to see some geo-cold sites, then board the Azamara Journey for 18-nights from Rekjavik to Greenland, ending up in Montreal. 
  • Of course, there is one primary reason we will be on this cruise.  The next total solar eclipse.  Sun will stay dark for 2 minutes and 18 seconds on August 12.
So, anyway, we leave today on our eclipse trip.
  • The Azamara Journey cruise is hopefully where we will experience that total eclipse.  The ship goes on to Montreal.
  • We'll fly to Vancouver, then board the Silver Whisper back to Honolulu
If you don't live along this rather narrow path, less than 200 miles wide, you won't be able to view the 100% total eclipse.  However, just about a year from today, on 2August2027, there will be a total eclipse for the ages.  Your big chance.
  • This will be the longest total solar eclipse--6 minutes and 23 seconds--until 2114.

ON THE MATTER OF PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

HOW TO WATCH NETFLIX SHOWS

But first, maybe  President Donald Trump's 20-point Gaza Peace Plan is showing some progress .   No one expects the Hamas to accept all of them, but they did agree to release all captives and the act of handing over administration to Palestinian technocrats. So far, in the Gaza Strip, 66,288 have been killed and 169,165 wounded.   On 7October2023, almost two years ago, 1139 were killed in the initial Hamas-led attack. About my topic of the day, I've long been lamenting the overflow of watchable films and series available on Netflix and Prime.  Why expand into the plethora of other streaming options when I can't keep up with what I have, which costs me around $30/month.  And, of course, why venture out to a movie theater to end up watching a film that will cost me around that amount of money, when you add the popcorn, drink, gasoline cost, time it takes to get there and back, and the risk of a car accident or worse.  Oh, also getting infected with ...
