A MAGICAL DAY AT THE SINGAPORE RITZ-CARLTON MILLENIA

  Was picked up by a Ritz-Carlton Millennia representative at the Marriott Tang Plaza, and left in the rain. Checked into the Ritz-Carlton and, as our room was not yet ready, we were sent to the Club Lounge. Team time came. The Marina Bay Sands fourth tower coming up. Started with champagne, Tea time. Checked into our room. Our view. National Stadium. Back to the Club Lounge for drinks and appetizers. My evening meal. Night view. An all-time low of 1038 steps. A week old, but U.S.  president's cold opening Christmas Address on Saturday Night Live .  Finally,  Eduardo Saverin  is the  wealthiest person in Singapore .  Worth $43 billion. You probably never heard of him, but he was a junior at Harvard, when he and sophomore Mark Zuckerberg, with three others, founded Facebook in 2004. Was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1982, and his family immigrated to the U.S. in 1993. Emigrated to Singapore in 2009 and renounced his American citizenship in 2011, sidestep...

FINAL DAY IN THE MARRIOTT TANG PLAZA

 Started the day with breakfast in the hotel Crossroads Buffet. Went for a final walk through the Tang Plaza and other underground malls.  Read today that the food court in Tang Plaza is the best in Singapore. Ended evening in the Executive Club. Walked 3560 steps. Today, we leave the Marriott Tang Plaza for the Ritz-Carlton Millennia. Tomorrow, the Ritz-Carlton Millennia. -

SINGAPORE: The New Marina Bay Sands

The three most iconic structures in Singapore are the Marina Bay Sands, the Gardens by the Bay and the classic colonial Raffles Hotel, representing modern ambition, green vision and rich heritage.  The next three are   The Merlion ,   Esplanade--Theaters on the Bay   and   Helix Bridge . The Marina Bay Sands opened in June of 2010 but had an official grand opening early in 2011.   I stayed there a month later. The integrated resort cost $8 billion ( $10.3 billion S ) 2561 rooms. Major convention center. Built by the Las Vegas Sands. Designed by  Moshe Safdie . Now 87 year old, born in Haifa, Palestine of Syrian Jews. At the age of ten was gending goats and kept bees in a kibbutz. Family left for Canada when he was 15, and while a student at McGill University, created Habitat 67, the central feature for the 1967 Montreal World Expo.
