DIAMOND PRINCESS: Day 10, and into Day 11

Day 10 was at sea and Day 11 is in the Port of Cai Lan, the gateway to Halong Bay.

Halong Bay is a little more than 400 miles south of Hong Kong and 1400 miles north of Singapore.
We have two more stops, Chan May on Day 13, which means a tour to Danang, also known as China Beach, and Phu My, the port leading to Ho Chi Minh City, on Day 15.
Then a day at sea, ending on Day 17 in Singapore, December 23.

Lunch for Day 10 again avoided the ramen. My swollen feet looks better, but not by much.

I've had a book, A History of Japan: Revised Edition, for decades. Took it on at least three trips. Never opened it. Finally, today, I read the first five of 18 chapters.

The Diamond Princess hawks all kinds of stuff. Here, a Louis the 13th cognac. Only $3800. Could cost $1000 more in Honolulu.

Had formal photos taken.

On to Pacific Moon for dinner. Started with a champagne.

Dinner of Caesar Salad and a mushroom soup.

Plus an excellent rack of lamb.

After dinner, the Jaames Band in Club Fusion playing 50s and 60s songs.

Then on to Karaoke.

Walked 4928 steps.

Day 11 began with lunch with the Diamond Princess docked in the Port of Cai Lan.

This port is adjacent to Halong, or Ha Long (meaning descending dragon), and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It is huge, around 600 square miles, with 75 miles of coastline.
There are just about 2000 limestone islets. Some of them have impressive caves.
A lot more coming about Halong Bay over the next two days.

DAY 1 on the DIAMOND PRINCESS

But first, Sheraton Yokohama Bay highlights of our Sheraton Club eats/drinks and breakfasts. Breakfast stations. Then taxi off to the Diamond Princess. Fall colors. Approaching from the rear of the Diamond Princess. Departure of Diamond Princess from Yokohama, Departure snack of lamb, beef, penne pasta, Johnny Walker Gold and champagne. Leaving Yokohama. We then went to Kai Sushi for dinner, Sushi and sake dinner, Then, off to Fun Dance Class. That followed by karaoke. The night continued into some old time disco. Finally, after midnight, back to our stateroom. Walked 4127 steps today. -

Korean music was almost totally missing, growing up in Hawaii. The exception was Arirang . Today, BTS and BLACKPINK resonate around the world. But first, maybe President Donald Trump's 20-point Gaza Peace Plan is showing some progress . No one expects the Hamas to accept all of them, but they did agree to release all captives and the act of handing over administration to Palestinian technocrats. About my topic of the day, I've long been lamenting the overflow of watchable films and series available on Netflix and Prime. Why expand into the plethora of other streaming options when I can't keep up with what I have, which costs me around $30/month. And, of course, why venture out to a movie theater to end up watching a film that will cost me around that amount of money, when you add the popcorn, drink, gasoline cost, time it takes to get there and back, and the risk of a car accident or worse.
