IS THERE A GOOD SUGAR?

We keep reading that sugars are bad for you.  Artificial sugars have a reputation for being especially deleterious, but is there such a thing as the best of these awfuls?  Some facts. The three main nutrients you consume are proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are essential for providing energy, maintaining blood sugar levels and supporting muscle and brain function.  They are also a source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. There are three types of carbohydrates:   sugars , starches and fiber. Your body breaks down carbohydrates into glucose, or blood sugar .  Glucose can be stored in your liver and muscles for later use. There are two types of sugars . Monosaccharides like glucose ( primary source of energy in the body, and also found in fruits, vegetables and honey ), fructose ( fruit sugar, found in fruits, honey and corn syrup ) and galactose ( dairy products ). Disaccharides. Sucrose, known as table sugar, is a combination of glu...

THE ANTI-MATTER BOMB

Atomic Bombs   were exploded over Hiroshima ( right ) and Nagasaki to end World War 2. Nagasaki's Fat Man was 40% more powerful than Hiroshima's Little Boy.  The Tsar Bomba of the Soviet Union, a hydrogen bomb, was 3500 times more powerful than Fat Man. Watch this fascinating  video of how much destruction these weapons would cause . Comparison with other bombs, height of Mount Everest and altitude of commercial airliner. It is reported, that Soviet scientists were worried about this H-Bomb being, perhaps, too powerful, so they decided to limit the size to 50 Megatons, but instead got 57 MT of TNT.  They could have brought it up to more than 100 MT. Can a more powerful bomb be built?  Yes, an  anti-matter bomb.  Watch this video. Theoretically, should be 100 times more powerful than a Tsar Bomba. Just half a gram of anti-matter reacting with half a gram of ordinary matter would produce the equivalent of the Nagasaki A-Bomb. A ton of anti-matter ...

OUR NATIONAL DEFENSE (WAR) BUDGET

A week ago, my posting was:       NOSTALGIA TUESDAY:  My First  Huffington Post  Article I talked about the beginning of the  Huffington Post  and my first contribution on 29May2008 to, in those early days, still a fledging web newspaper:       Well, Barack, We have a Problem ...  The problem, I thought, was the horrendous size of our national defense budget, but the opportunity Barrack Obama had to combat peak oil and remediate global warming by transferring funds into these programs.  Better to save humanity by taking care of these problems instead of escalating the potential of war and a nuclear winter. But he first had to beat Hillary for the Democratic nomination, then, as it later turned out, Republican John McCain for the presidency. Three months later on 10August2008, with the presidential election still about three months away, I followed up with: Why Do We Spend So Much On National Security? Let me see now,...
