(I don't show the COVID-19 new cases on Sundays and Mondays because they are always incorrectly low.)
Several people who came from the original Planet Earth and Humanity blog site wandered why I did not include some of the useful items that were provided in the right column in this new version of Planet Earth and Humanity. Actually, they're there, and sometimes they show up, but if you don't see it, CLICK on those three parallel lines in the right-hand corner at the top.- The Price of Oil
- How to Calculate the Current Value of Money
- Consumer Price Index and Inflation Rate
- All-time numbers
- petroleum
- gold
- 30-year mortgage rate
- Odds Calculator
- How to Calculate Your Body-Mass Index
- About Me
To return to the blog site, click on that arrow at the top right. Of course there will be no arrow when the right column shows.
Note that when you sometimes get to this site, you will see that older postings are placed below the most recent. They are not listed chronologically, but are the most popular recent ones.
- How are Things in Glocca Mora ?: Finian's Rainbow

Finian's Rainbow was a Broadway production in 1947. The song was sung by Ella Logan of this fictional village in Ireland. The lyrics were by Yip Harburg, who also wrote Over the Rainbow, Brother Can You Spare a Dime (which became the anthem of the 1929 depression), April in Paris, It's Only a Paper Moon and Old Devil Moon, plus many others. The 1968 film (RT: 53/53) involved Fred Astaire and Petula Clark, who sang How are Things in Glocca Mora, with a rainbow at the end. There is a Glockamara in Ireland.
Don't Cry for Me Argentina was released by Julie Covington in 1976 as a concept for the musical Evita (RT: 63/68)in 1978. Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, this is a story of Argentina's Eva Peron. Elaine Paige sang the original London cast recording in 1978, while Patti LuPone did the same for the 1979 Broadway version. In 1996 Madonna was in the title role.
The movie Lili was released in 1953 with Leslie Caron and Mel Ferrer. Rotten Tomatoes reviewers gave it a 100% rating, with 81% from the audience. The song Hi-Lili Hi-Lo was written by Bronislaw Kaper for the film, and the performance by Caron and Ferrer only reached #30 on Billboard. The production won six Academy Award nominations, with the music gaining an Oscar. Mostly for nostalgic reasons, Hi-Li Hi-Lo is my #59
Once super typhoon Goni, only yesterday at 195 MPH, made landfall over Luzon in the Philippines at Category 5 strength and caused considerable damage and deaths. Now only barely at hurricane strength, the future track again will be south of Danang, Vietnam, which will be the sixth landfall this month.
