On the way to Acapulco we had a mild nightlife, starting with an Oriental Dinner in the Garden Cafe.
Mostly Chinese food, and not much at that. The hot sour soup was lukewarm, but a shot of Johnny Walker Black Label helped. Everything was too salty. Watched ADDA in the Atrium.That was it. Only 3366 steps today.

Yesterday, I essentially walked 3/4ths of mile to gather the buffet lunch. Today, only half a mile.
- 3080 miles south of Seattle.
- 1987 miles south of San Diego.
- 240 miles south of Mexico City.
- 2223 miles north of Panama Canal.
- 3775 miles east of Honolulu.
- By the 8th century, the Acapulco Bay area had a small culture dominated by Omecs.
- Followed by Mayan,,then the Aztec Empire around 1500.
- The Spanish came in the 1520s as linked to Hernán Cortés.

- The city population was no more than 5000 until it came into prominence in the 1940's through the 1960's as a getaway for Hollywood stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Eddie Fisher and Brigitte Bardot, and millionaires. Even JFK and Jacqueline.
- Cliff diving started in the 1930's at the La Quebrada Cliff. They jump from 130 feet into an inlet only 23 feet wide and 13 feet deep.
- While Elvis' movie Fun in Acapulco featured the name, filming did not occur here. Only 57/50 Rotten Tomatoes ratings.
- Acapulco hosted the sailing events for the 1968 Summer Olympics.
- A tollway connected the Acapulco with Mexico City in the 1990's, paving the way for Acapulco becoming a weekend destination, the drive taking 3.5 hours, one way.
- Sailfish is plentiful, such that boat captains are known to bet with customers that if nothing is caught, the trip is free.
- The city was devastated by the 1997 Hurricane Pauline, killing more than 100. There were 30-foot waves. Hurricane Otis, another Category 5, again caused devastation in 2023.
- Acapulco is Mexico's largest beach and resort city, with a Metro population of 852,622.
- Bullfighting is legal in Mexico.
- Trash is thrown into the streets, much of which ends up in the bay.
- However, worst of all, since 2014, has suffered from a massive upsurge in gang violence and homicides.
- Half a dozen police with rifles outside our cruise ship.
- Get this. It is only the ninth-deadliest city in Mexico, but 10 deadliest in the world.
- The military disarmed the local police force because it was infiltrated by drug gangs.
- The State Department simply says don't go to Acapulco.
- Population dropped from 2010 to 2020.
- Plus, the weather at 2PM is 86 F, but feels like 97 F, according to AccuWeather.
- Thus, we decided to avoid any tour today.
The World Series begin on Friday at Dodgers Stadium, 8PM ET on Fox. New York Yankees vs Los Angeles Dodgers.
- If you think you've seen them doing this before, yes, this their 12th time, five more than the next two, Yankees against the San Francisco Giants.
- The last time they met was in 1981. Yankees won the first two at Yankee Stadium. But the Dodgers won the next four, the first three by one run.
- In 1978 Yankees won, 4-2.
- The 1956 series was won by the Yankees, 4-3, when these were the Brooklyn Dodgers. In Game 5, Yankees right-hander Don Larsen threw a perfect game.
- The first time they met was in 1941, won by the Yankees, 4-1.
We are two weeks away from Tuesday, November 5.
