SUNDAY WITH ANIMALS, HUMANS AND HURRICANES

I have stopped using the treadmill because falling would be catastrophic.  If I did anything on this device, this is what I would do.  Supposed to be a video, but, I guess not.   All these videos were sent to me by friends. This one below you absolutely must see.  And, by the way, there is interesting story about that Glass Gem Corn in the above compilation. There are four ocean storms, one in the Atlantic, one in the Gulf of Mexico and two in the West Pacific.   Hurricane Franklin  will veer away the USA, but attain Category 3 strength. Now Tropical Storm  Idalia  will become a hurricane and make landfall over a relatively unpopulated portion of Florida. In the West Pacific,  Damrey  today attained hurricane strength, but will make a right turn and miss Japan. Also in the West Pacific is the very dangerous  Typhoon Saola , now at 145 MPH.  Looks to maintain Category 4 status, with the eye passing just south of Taiwa...

HAVE A NICE DAY

Ah, Saturday, weather in Hawaii is beautiful.  Lahaina will be well in a decade or so.   Four astronauts,  representing Denmark, Japan and Russia, commanded by Jasmin Moghbeli of the USA, were launched towards the International Space Station on the longest human spaceflight in NASA history.  Almost all is well on Planet Earth.  So have a nice day. Joe and Jill Biden serenaded with  Hawaii Pono'Ä« . Edinburgh Festival Fringe began earlier this month and will end on Monday, August 28.  Been to this event three times.   Here is what you missed .  This is only the largest performance arts festival in the world, occurring the only month it is tolerable in Scotland, and typically features 3,300 different shows from more than 60 countries, with 50,000 performances.  A lot of this is free and on the streets.  A must go is the  Military Tattoo  inside the arena of Edinburgh Castle.  Good luck trying to find a h...

SORRY, BUT MORE ON TRUMP AND HIS CONSPIRATORS

See that photo above?  This could well be the most memorable photo ever taken of a past president of the USA.  Donald Trump's mug shot is the first for someone who held this position, and could well earn him a billion dollars on his way to the Republican nomination for president next July in Milwaukee.  Secretly ecstatic would be Democratic insiders who see a successful Trump opposition to Joe Biden as the key to holding on to the White House and Senate, while flipping the House on November 5, 2024.   Milwaukee, incidentally, was also the site of that  first Republican presidential debate , said to have been "won" by  Vivek Ramaswany , with DeSantis and Pence gaining some, and Joe Biden perhaps being the biggest winner.  As the center of attention, Ramaswany showed huge flaws.  He is a 38-year old high tech almost billionaire who was born in Cincinnati of India Hindu immigrants.  Incidentally, the 2028 convention will occur in Houston. W...

WHAT IS A REPUBLICAN?

Remember the parable of the  Blind Men and an Elephant?   Well, the Republican Party is at a crucial crossroad about where they're headed. First Republican presidential debate?   Read this .   And this . Japan releasing nuclear contaminated wastewater into the Pacific?   Read this .  Dumping of radiated fluids will need to go on for the next forty or so years.  International relationships?  Totally screwed up.  A quote: Bob Richmond of the University of Hawaii (we are in the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology), scientific advisor to the Pacific Island states, which like China and most countries are adamantly opposed, analogized that Japan's extensive monitoring plans do not actually mitigate health risks posed by duming the wastewater into the ocean: Its' the same thing as saying, 'I'm going to smoke three packs of cigarettes a day, but I'm not worried because I'm gonna get a chest X-ray every year.  That's m...

DEATH BY A GAMMA RAY BURST?

Joe and Jill Biden came and went.  A lot of unanswered questions about the Lahaina Apocalypse.   A  Star Advertiser  article  this morning about how this all started seems to exonerate Hawaiian Electric as the cause.  The number of deaths stayed steady at 115, with a thousand or so still missing.  A horrid thought is that most of them might forever be unidentified, for the fire was so sudden and hot that it was like an incinerator, and bones were turned to ashes, then scattered by the nearly hurricane speed winds, perhaps making it impossible to determine who is who and what is what.  Yevgeny Prigozhin, leader of the Wagner group that revolted exactly two months ago, apparently was killed, and probably assassinated, in a plane crash near the town of Kuzhenkino today.  Putin strikes again.  Here is a  list of who he has eliminated  in suspicious ways. Surely you will want to watch live from Milwaukee the  first Republi...
